Librarian - Elementary School in Kenosha, Wisconsin at Christian Life School

Christian Life School is seeking a part-time Librarian to serve our K-6 students. This role combines library instruction, student interaction, book selection and management, and support of elementary literacy. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with children, have a passion for reading, and be able to create an engaging and welcoming library environment.

Responsibilities
• Create and teach engaging library lessons for K-6 students.
• Meet with each class once per week for a 30-minute library period, including instruction and book checkout.
• Help students discover books they enjoy and develop a love of reading.
• Teach students how to use library resources and become more independent in the library.
• Select and purchase age-appropriate, school-appropriate books for K-6.
• Process new books for the library circulation system, including labeling and cover lamination.
• Reshelve returned books and maintain an organized library collection.
• Coordinate and run the elementary book fair.
• Help facilitate Accelerated Reader (AR) reading events and awards.
• Coordinate with teachers as needed to support class report projects.
• Lead small reading groups as needed.
• Assist with recess supervision and carline duties.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience working with elementary-age students preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• A passion for reading and helping children develop a love of books.
• Ability to create engaging and age-appropriate learning experiences.
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating with teachers and staff.
• Commitment to Christian education and the mission of Christian Life School.

Schedule
• Part-time, 16–32 hours per week.
• A consistent weekly schedule will be established based on the candidate’s availability and the needs of the school.
• Schedule will be during regular school hours, with occasional additional time as needed for events such as the elementary book fair.
