About Divcon:
Divcon delivers integrated automation solutions for HVAC, lighting, energy, and mission-critical systems. Based in Dallas, Texas, we design and deploy intelligent platforms that boost performance, reduce energy use, and ensure reliability in commercial, industrial, and data center environments. Using advanced technologies such as Allen-Bradley PLCs, Ignition SCADA, and Delta DDC, our experienced team partners with clients to deliver tailored, on-time, and high-performance systems. From complex BMS and EPMS deployments to scalable building controls, we bring deep technical expertise and a relentless commitment to quality. We do more than build systems. We empower performance.

About the role:

We are seeking a highly capable PLC Service Technician with strong expertise in PLC‑based control systems, DDC controls, and hybrid BMS architectures. This role requires the ability to work independently in the field, interface directly with clients, diagnose complex system issues, and restore system functionality with minimal oversight.

The PLC Service Technician serves as a frontline technical resource responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing PLC/DDC hybrid systems across industrial and commercial environments. This position requires exceptional problem‑solving skills, strong communication, and the ability to manage service calls, client expectations, and technical deliverables without direct supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform unsupervised field service work, including diagnostics, repairs, and system restoration for PLC and DDC‑based BMS systems.
  • Troubleshoot PLC logic, field devices, DDC controllers, communication networks, and system integrations.
  • Identify root causes of system failures and implement corrective actions efficiently and professionally.
  • Manage service schedules, priorities, and documentation independently while maintaining high technical standards.
  • Serve as the primary on‑site technical contact for clients during service calls and system evaluations.
  • Communicate findings, recommended actions, and system status clearly and professionally to clients, project managers, and engineering teams.
  • Provide guidance to clients on system operation, maintenance needs, and potential improvements.
  • Represent the company with professionalism, technical credibility, and strong customer‑service skills.
  • Troubleshoot and support hybrid BMS architectures involving PLC platforms integrated with DDC controllers.
  • Validate communication between PLCs, DDC controllers, SCADA/HMI platforms, and field devices.
  • Diagnose issues related to control sequences, sensor inputs, actuator outputs, and network communication paths.
  • Support system optimization, tuning, and performance improvements across hybrid control environments.
  • Configure and troubleshoot industrial communication protocols including Modbus/UDP, Modbus/IP, Ethernet/IP, BACnet, MQTT, and OPC UA.
  • Set and manage IP addressing, subnet masks, gateways, VLAN assignments, and port schedules.
  • Support network architectures such as linear networks, star topologies, and device‑level rings.
  • Validate communication paths between PLCs, DDC controllers, and supervisory systems.
  • Develop accurate service reports, redlines, as‑built updates, and corrective‑action documentation.
  • Maintain detailed records of service activities, system changes, and client interactions.
  • Communicate field findings to PLC Engineers and project managers to support continuous improvement and system reliability.

Qualifications:

  • 3–5+ years of hands‑on experience with PLC systems, DDC controls, or hybrid BMS environments.
  • Strong proficiency with Allen‑Bradley PLC platforms; familiarity with Siemens, Schneider Electric, or DDC systems (e.g., Tridium, Johnson Controls, Honeywell) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Studio 5000, FactoryTalk Linx, RS Linx Classic, RSNetWorx, and FactoryTalk Activation Manager.
  • Strong understanding of industrial networking and communication protocols.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, network diagrams, mechanical plans, and control sequences.
  • Excellent communication, customer‑service, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision in fast‑paced field environments.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as required (up to 85%).

Preferred:

  • Experience in data centers, healthcare, or mission-critical facilities.
  • Familiarity with commissioning tools, hand-held meters, and BAS diagnostic software.
  • Trade school or technical certification in HVAC, controls, or electronics.
