This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior SDE - Conversations based in India.

Join a high-scale backend engineering environment where billions of messages and workflow actions are processed every month. You’ll design and own distributed systems that power real-time conversations across multiple communication channels. The role combines deep backend engineering with challenging problems in scalability, consistency, resilience, and performance. You’ll work with Node.js, Go, GCP, distributed queues, and high-volume data stores. From architecture and design through deployment and production health, you’ll own systems end to end. • Design and build high-throughput, low-latency Node.js and Go services supporting critical communication paths.
• Own systems end to end, including architecture, design documentation, implementation, testing, rollout, monitoring, and production health.
• Model and optimize SQL and NoSQL data layers handling high-volume reads, writes, and atomic updates.
• Build queueing, caching, and rate-limiting mechanisms that maintain reliability and performance during traffic spikes.
• Develop robust observability through logs, metrics, and distributed tracing to identify and address issues proactively.
• Investigate production incidents, implement durable fixes, and drive post-mortem actions through completion.
• Review code, establish strong engineering standards, and mentor other engineers through technical guidance and collaboration.
• Contribute to backend services supporting multi-channel communication across SMS, Email, WhatsApp, and direct messaging.
• Work across microservices, cloud infrastructure, messaging systems, and storage layers to maintain consistent, fast, and recoverable user experiences.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of backend engineering experience with strong hands-on expertise in Node.js and/or Go.
• Experience designing and operating queue-based systems using technologies such as Pub/Sub, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Cloud Tasks, or similar.
• Strong understanding of delivery semantics, message ordering, backpressure, consistency trade-offs, idempotency, and fault tolerance in distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with Redis or comparable in-memory data stores, including caching strategies, data structures, and failure modes.
• Strong SQL and/or NoSQL database experience, including schema design, indexing, and query optimization at high volumes.
• Experience working on systems that remain reliable and correct under partial failures, high concurrency, and significant traffic.
• Strong documentation and testing habits, with the ability to produce clear design documents and rigorous test cases.
• Demonstrated ability to solve ambiguous technical problems without relying on predefined solutions or playbooks.
• Strong production troubleshooting skills and a methodical approach to investigating complex incidents.
• Ability to use AI-assisted engineering tools effectively to produce accurate, tested, production-quality code and accelerate development workflows.
• Experience working with the following technical environment is valuable: Node.js/TypeScript, Go, MongoDB, Firestore, Redis, Elasticsearch, ClickHouse, GKE, Pub/Sub, Cloud Tasks, GitHub Actions, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience building or scaling messaging, automation, or event-driven platforms is a strong advantage.
• Experience taking systems from 0→1 or rebuilding critical systems while maintaining production continuity is a plus.
