USCIS Application Support Center | Charleston, WV
Location: Charleston, West Virginia
Schedule: Monday through Friday, Day Shift
Position Overview
River City Security Services is hiring Armed Security Officers to provide security services at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Application Support Center in Charleston, West Virginia.
USCIS Application Support Centers are federal facilities where applicants report for biometric services. Officers assigned to this location are responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and professional environment for USCIS employees, contractors, applicants, and visitors.
This position requires strong situational awareness, professional communication, sound judgment, and the ability to consistently follow federal security procedures.
What You’ll Do
Provide armed security in accordance with DHS, USCIS, company, and contract requirements
Control facility access and verify identification and appointment documentation
Screen visitors using security screening equipment
Monitor CCTV, alarms, and other security systems
Conduct interior and exterior security patrols
Prevent unauthorized access to restricted areas
Respond to disturbances, emergencies, suspicious activity, and security incidents
Complete daily activity logs, visitor logs, and incident reports
Assist with emergency evacuations and emergency response procedures
Safeguard government property and sensitive information
Coordinate with law enforcement and emergency responders when necessary
Maintain a professional and courteous presence when interacting with the public
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
Be at least 21 years old
Have a high school diploma or GED
Possess a valid driver’s license
Be legally eligible to possess and carry a firearm
Successfully complete a criminal background investigation and drug screening
Be able to obtain and maintain required federal suitability and security approvals
Have strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrate good judgment, attention to detail, and situational awareness
Preferred Experience
Preference may be given to applicants with:
Prior armed security experience
Military experience
Law enforcement or corrections experience
Federal contract security experience
Previous experience working at a government or federal facility
Current CPR, AED, or First Aid certification
Physical Requirements
Officers must be able to:
Stand and walk for extended periods
Work indoors and outdoors as required
Lift up to 25 pounds
Operate security screening equipment and computer-based systems
Maintain continuous situational awareness
Respond quickly and appropriately during emergencies
Schedule
Monday through Friday
Day shift
Federal holidays generally observed unless otherwise required by the contract
Overtime may be required based on operational needs
Equipment
Depending on assignment, officers may use:
Duty firearm and required protective equipment
Handheld radio
Walk-through metal detector
Handheld metal detection wand
X-ray screening equipment
CCTV monitoring systems
Computer-based reporting systems
