Shipping & Receiving Clerk in Taylor, Michigan at Painters Supply & Equipment Co

Position Summary

We are looking for a skilled Shipping & Receiving Clerk who is very organized, efficient, and experienced. This role is responsible for coordination and supporting daily shipping and receiving operations. Responsibilities include picking and pulling orders, processing outbound shipments not handled by company carries, preparing UPS and FedEx shipments, operating ComCept software and RF scanners, staging and palletizing freight for truck deliveries, and processing inventory transfer tickets. This position ensures shipments are accurately documented, securely packaged, and ready for timely delivery.

Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Pick and pull products to order requirements, pick lists, and shipping instructions.
• Process and coordinate all outbound shipments not handled by company carriers, including shipments through third party parcel services.
• Prepare, process, label, and ship packages using UPS and FedEx shipping systems and procedures.
• Use ComCept software to process orders, manage inventory transactions, and complete shipping and transfer documents.
• Operate RF scanners to scan, verify, and track products throughout picking and shipping.
• Stage, sort, and organize outbound shipments according to carrier, destination, and scheduled pickup.
• Palletize, wrap, label, and secure freight for truck pickups to ensure safe transportation.
• Prepare, process, verify, and maintain transfer tickets for inventory moving between locations or departments.
• Verify product numbers, quantities, shipping labels, and documentation to ensure order accuracy.
• Maintain accurate shipping records.
• Verify products against packing slips and report shortages, damages, or discrepancies.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe shipping and receiving area.
• Communicate with warehouse personnel and supervisors regarding shipment status, discrepancies, and shipping requirements.
• Perform other warehouse and shipping related duties as assigned.

Requirements and skills

• Must possess a valid drivers license and clean driving record.
• Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations preferred.
• Experience preparing UPS and FedEx shipments preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret pick lists, transfer tickets, packing slips, and shipping instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to safely lift, move, stage, and palletize products as required.

Physical Requirements

Physical abilities will include walking and standing on concrete/hard surfaces for a minimum of 2.5 hours to 8 hours at a time, ability to lift and carry up to 55 pounds regularly and over 55 pounds occasionally, able to reach, twist, bend, kneel, climb a ladder while carrying product. May require the ability to drive a forklift and/or order picker.
