Job Description

OPEN UNTIL FILLED

This is a temporary, grant-funded internship opportunity totaling approximately 50 hours over six weeks, with an anticipated start date in November.

Work-Based Learning (WBL) experiences create meaningful connections between education and the workforce that prepare students to become career-ready graduates through on-the-job training from apprenticeships, internships, job shadowing, practicums, and clinical experiences. These experiences help learners develop the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies needed for career success.

Position Summary

The Work-Based Learning Capacity Building Intern will support Alamance Community College’s WBL Capacity Building Accelerator Program, an initiative focused on understanding and strengthening experiential learning opportunities across the college. Working closely with the Vice President of Business and Community Engagement, the intern will conduct stakeholder interviews, document findings, organize information, and prepare reports that will help the college better understand its current work-based learning activities, identify opportunities and gaps, and inform future planning.

The intern will interact with a diverse group of college and community stakeholders, including students, faculty and staff, college leadership, employers, alumni, and community partners. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Conduct structured interviews with identified stakeholders using established interview questions and protocols.
  • Communicate professionally with students, faculty, staff, college leadership, employers, alumni, and other community stakeholders to schedule and conduct interviews.
  • Accurately document and organize information gathered through stakeholder interviews.
  • Maintain organized records of completed interviews, interview notes, and related project information.
  • Review and synthesize interview findings to identify common themes, perspectives, opportunities, and challenges related to work-based learning at Alamance Community College.
  • Prepare written reports summarizing stakeholder feedback and findings.
  • Assist with organizing information about existing experiential learning and work-based learning opportunities across the college.
  • Support the Vice President of Business and Community Engagement with other research, documentation, and project-related activities associated with the WBL Capacity Building Accelerator Program.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate discretion when handling information shared by stakeholders.
  • Communicate regularly with the project supervisor regarding progress, questions, and emerging findings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the project.
