Job Description

Position Summary:

Forgent is seeking a highly capable and hands-on Director of Facilities to lead the strategy, operations, and continuous improvement of all company facilities across our growing footprint. This individual will be responsible for ensuring our facilities operate safely, efficiently, and professionally while supporting employees, customers, and business objectives.

As Forgent continues to expand, this leader will manage existing facilities while helping stand up and operationalize future locations. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in facilities operations, vendor management, maintenance programs, workplace services, and multi-site leadership within a manufacturing, distribution, engineering, or industrial environment.

This role will be based in Columbus, Ohio and will require periodic travel to company locations.

Key Responsibilities:

Facilities Leadership & Operations

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive facilities strategy aligned with company growth plans.
  • Lead the day-to-day operations of all company facilities, ensuring safe, efficient, and well-maintained work environments.
  • Establish facility standards, processes, and preventive maintenance programs across all locations.
  • Create scalable systems and procedures that support future facility expansion.
  • Develop and manage annual facilities operating budgets and capital improvement plans.

Multi-Site Management & Expansion

  • Oversee facility operations across current and future locations.
  • Partner with business leaders to assess operational facility needs as the company grows.
  • Lead the planning, setup, and operational readiness of new facilities.
  • Coordinate facility transitions, expansions, renovations, and infrastructure improvements.

Vendor & Workplace Services Management

  • Manage relationships and performance of third-party service providers, including:
    • Janitorial services
    • Building maintenance providers
    • Landscaping services
    • Food service and catering vendors
    • Vending providers
    • Security vendors
    • Waste and recycling services
  • Negotiate service agreements and monitor vendor performance against established standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in workplace services and employee experience.

Maintenance & Infrastructure

  • Oversee building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and general facility infrastructure.
  • Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to optimize uptime and minimize facility-related disruptions.
  • Ensure timely resolution of facility issues while maintaining high service levels.

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Partner with EHS and operational leadership to ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support emergency preparedness, business continuity, and facility security initiatives.
  • Maintain required facility documentation, inspections, permits, and certifications.

Stakeholder Partnership

  • Collaborate with Operations, HR, Finance, IT, and executive leadership to support business objectives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for facility-related issues and projects.
  • Drive a customer-focused approach to supporting employees and visitors across all sites.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of progressive facilities management experience.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing facilities teams and/or multi-site operations.
  • Experience overseeing vendor relationships and facility service contracts.
  • Strong budget management and project management capabilities.
  • Demonstrated success implementing preventive maintenance programs and operational processes.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel periodically to company locations.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, engineering, distribution, or technical environments.
  • Experience opening, expanding, or integrating new facilities.
  • Knowledge of building systems, facility infrastructure, and workplace services management.
  • Professional certifications such as IFMA, FMP, CFM, or similar.
  • Real estate, site selection, lease administration, or facility acquisition experience.

  • Collaboration & Influence: Builds effective partnerships with Operations, EHS, HR, Finance, IT, leaders, employees, and external providers.
  • Team & Vendor Leadership: Develops capable teams, strengthens vendor partnerships, establishes measurable expectations, and addresses performance gaps.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in office, manufacturing, warehouse, and industrial facility environments with regular exposure to active operations, mechanical equipment, noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Must follow all site safety requirements and wear personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and protective footwear, as required.
  • Requires periodic travel to company locations and vendor or project sites.
  • Requires the ability to walk facilities, use stairs and ladders, access equipment areas, and occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • May require schedule flexibility and availability outside standard business hours to support facility projects, shutdowns, urgent issues, or emergency response.
