East Arkansas Family Health Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Phlebotomist with medical assistant experience to join our healthcare team in Osceola, Arkansas. This position is primarily responsible for performing venipuncture, specimen collection and processing, laboratory testing, and maintaining accurate laboratory records. The employee will also provide medical assistant support as needed, including preparing patients for examinations, obtaining vital signs, and assisting providers with patient care.
The ideal candidate will have phlebotomy experience, previous medical assistant experience, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care in a community health center setting.

Receives patients, verifies patient identification, and prepares patients for laboratory procedures.
Performs venipuncture on pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
Performs capillary blood collection as needed.
Ensures proper identification, labeling, handling, and processing of laboratory specimens.
Prepares specimens for transport to reference laboratories, including centrifugation and aliquoting of ambient, refrigerated, and frozen specimens.
Performs waived and moderate-complexity laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures and applicable personnel qualifications.
Performs electrocardiograms (EKGs) as assigned.
Maintains quality control records for all assigned waived and moderate-complexity laboratory tests.
Utilizes electronic medical records (EMR) to document in-house laboratory testing and transmit send-out tests to reference laboratories.
Maintains accurate logs and records pertaining to patient laboratory testing and results.
Assists with reconciliation of providers' laboratory results.
Maintains a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment in accordance with established infection control and safety procedures.
Demonstrates the ability to comprehend and appropriately communicate medical terminology.
Medical assistant duties are performed as needed to support patient care and clinical operations, with phlebotomy and laboratory services remaining the primary responsibilities of the position.
Receives and prepares patients for examinations and treatments.
Obtains and documents patient vital signs and other necessary patient information.
Prepares and maintains medical records in accordance with established procedures.
Assists providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments as assigned.
Documents patient information in the EMR in accordance with Patient Care: General Procedures guidelines.
Performs infection control duties, including changing sharps containers and cleaning examination rooms and equipment according to established policies.
Performs assigned clinical procedures and job-related skills as identified during onboarding, orientation, and training, within demonstrated competency.
Assists with maintaining clinical supplies and preparing examination rooms as needed.
Participates in daily team huddles and monthly clinical staff meetings.
Participates in continuous quality improvement practices.
Completes ongoing job training and assigned MedTrainer courses.
Attends health fairs, outreach activities, and special events pertaining to the advancement of EAFHC as assigned.
Communicates with the supervisor regarding barriers that prevent the completion of assigned duties.
Stays informed of clinic rules, policies, procedures, and organizational changes.
Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to perform duties as instructed.
High school graduate.
Specialized training with certification in phlebotomy or on-the-job training with documentation of experience in the laboratory field.
Previous medical assistant experience required
Ability to perform basic medical assistant duties as assigned.
BLS certification.
