Associate Vice President-CBO-Hospital Billing Insurance Collections

Position Highlights

Oversee and lead the Billing and Claims Edits and Claim Stops and/or Collections and/or Patient Financial Experience.

Key Responsibilities

Strategically Lead THR CBO Billing, Follow-up or Pt Financial Experience (PFE) department. Responsible for training and development of the CBO Billing, Follow-up or PFE Team - ensuring that the teams have the adequate training and tools to perform the needed operation. Developing strategies to maximize reimbursement and reduce costs. Ensure compliance and regulations are satisfied with major commercial and government payers as well as government agencies. Develops the entire assigned team and departmental directors/ managers/ and FTEs.

Strategic Systems Oversight and Optimization Lead activities to optimize and improve the hospital revenue cycle - working with the vendors and ITS to make continuous changes and improvements to the host system to optimize performance, reduce claims edits, reduce CFB, improve cash flow, lower denial write-offs, reduce re-work, accelerate cash collections, reduce net days in AR, lower write-offs, increase automation, decrease patient complaints and decrease operating expense. Ensure processes are in place to review and approve adjustments and refunds that are needed to keep AR up-to-date and accurate.

Lead, manage, plan, organize, and implement multiple and complex applications, tools, and projects in conjunction with other system leaders to improve revenue cycle operations. Develops high-level work plans, schedules, estimates, budget forecasts, budget analysis, cost comparisons, etc. Conducts project meetings, team meetings, over-see the directors/ managers/ and FTEs. Conducts project meetings and is responsible for project tracking and analysis. Monitors the assigned revenue cycle projects and results for deviations and corrections, invokes contingency plans when necessary. Ensure adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables.

Serves as major point of contact for THR Entity Financial Officers and other THR Officers for CBO and PAIC operations. Manages the THR client relations with the entities, HIM, Revenue Integrity, Compliance, ITS, and other key stakeholders to ensure that communication is clear, direct, and actionable - in order to improve the entire revenue cycle operations and billing functions. Partners closely with ITS and the vendors to ensure that the technology is designed appropriately and that other THR stakeholders are engaged and informed of necessary changes and actions to improve financial operations. This will also include monitoring performance reports, dashboards and industry comparisons to ensure appropriate performance is achieved.

Also be responsible for the Siemens, CPSI and EPIC Billing system performance. May be responsible for leading the Coverage Discovery, Authorization, Customer Service, Follow-up, Denials, Client Billing, Patient Collections, Litigation oversight, Claims and Correspondence. This could also include staying up-to-date with industry news, trends and available tools - to ensure THR's Rev Cycle team stays competitive with others health systems.

Education
H.S. Diploma or equivalent with 7 years experience running consolidated revenue cycle for multi-hospital system in lieu of degree required. Or, Associate's Degree and 5 years experience required

Experience
5 years EPIC Systems / EPIC Installations / Revenue Cycle and/or Billing Experience required
5 years Working with large muti-hospital complex health/hospital systems required
5 years Multi-Facility Revenue Cycle Leadership Experience required

Licenses and Certifications
5-10 EPIC Certifications in Billing / ITS / Revenue Cycle preferred upon hire

Skills
Ability to manage large complex healthcare revenue cycle/billing organizations Ability to lead large and multiple teams. Contribute and participate in over-all strategy and compliance initiatives.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. Ability to read financial reports and legal documents. Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commission's proportion, percentage, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Knowledge of Patient Accounting Systems, PC (Microsoft Office Software), Scanning Document Systems and fax.
