Job Description
Triosim Corporation is seeking an experienced Manual Lathe Machinist to set up and operate manual engine, turret, and large-capacity lathes across our industrial services and manufacturing operations. Working from blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders, the Machinist produces, repairs, and remanufactures precision components—including industrial shafts, rotors, screws and cylinders—to tight tolerances. This is a hands-on, skilled-trade role for a machinist who can make their own setups, hold close tolerances, and work independently with minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
– Set up and operate manual engine, turret, and large-capacity lathes to perform turning, facing, boring, threading, drilling, knurling, and grooving operations.
– Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
– Select appropriate tooling, feeds, speeds, and cutting fluids for machining ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
– Machine components to close tolerances, typically within ±0.001".
– Perform in-process and final inspection using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and depth gauges; document results as required.
– Remanufacture and repair industrial rolls, shafts, and related components to restore them to specification.
– Deburr, finish, and prepare parts for subsequent operations or shipment.
– Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area.
– Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and required personal protective equipment (PPE).
– Collaborate with supervisors, quality personnel, and other trades to meet production and quality objectives.
POSITION TYPE / HOURS
Full-time, Non-exempt, Hourly. Hours M-F 5:30am – 2:00pm.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
– High school diploma or equivalency.
– Technical certificate or associate degree in machining/manufacturing technology, or completion of a machinist apprenticeship preferred.
– 2–5 years of hands-on manual lathe machining experience.
– Ability to read and interpret blueprints, and technical drawings.
– Proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
– Demonstrated ability to hold tight tolerances.
– Working knowledge of feeds, speeds, and tooling selection for a range of materials.
– Sound shop mathematics skills (fractions, decimals, and basic trigonometry).
– Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
– Experience operating large or heavy industrial lathes.
– Experience machining or remanufacturing industrial rolls, shafts, or cylinders.
– Ability to grind custom tooling.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
– Work is performed in an active machine-shop/manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, coolant, metal chips, and varying temperatures.
– Frequently required to stand for extended periods and to bend, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs; assistance or lifting aids are used for heavier loads.
– Required to wear PPE at all times, including safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, and hearing protection.
– Overtime and shift work may be required based on production demand.
