Job Title: Mental Health Counselor - Clinician - Therapist

Department: Professional Counseling - Outpatient

Status: Full-Time, non-exempt (hourly)

Reports To: Executive Director of Behavioral Health

Starting Compensation Pay: $62,558 - $63,980 annually

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assessment of mental health conditions.
  • Treatment plan development.
  • Provide therapeutic services for adults, children, and families.
  • Case Management
  • Utilize a variety of therapeutic interventions to address clinical needs
  • Advocacy, referral and linkage to recommended community resources
  • Complete required data entry and paperwork in accordance with program and agency policies and procedures, including but not limited to opening requirements, assessments, treatment/recovery plans, progress notes, treatment authorizations and authorizations of medical necessity.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate the ability to provide ethical, professional, and clinically appropriate behavioral health services to diverse populations. The individual must be able to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound clinical judgment, collaborate effectively with treatment team members, and perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/PREFERRED:

Degree/Field Required: Master's Degree in a Human Services field (Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field)

Degree/Field Preferred: N/A

Additional Fields of Knowledge Important for the Role:

  • Mental health assessment and diagnosis
  • Individual, family, and group therapy
  • Case management and care coordination
  • Crisis intervention and risk assessment
  • Trauma-informed care
  • Behavioral health documentation and compliance

Experience Required: Minimum of one year of relevant experience in counseling, therapy, behavioral health, or case management.

Experience Preferred: Experience working with adults, children, and families in an outpatient behavioral health setting.

Licenses/Certifications Required:

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC); OR
  • Licensed Social Worker (LSW)

Licenses/Certifications Preferred:

  • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Actively working toward advanced clinical licensure

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Trauma-Informed: Must display a willingness to adopt trauma-informed interventions, principles, and practices and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development in trauma-informed care. Recognizes the impact of trauma on individuals, families, staff, and communities and incorporates trauma-informed principles into assessment, treatment planning, and service delivery.

VEHICLE RELATED REQUIREMENTS:

Access to reliable transportation: Required.

Access to a reliable automobile: Required.

Proof of continued auto insurance: Required.

Valid driver’s license: Required.
