As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead a team responsible for developing and scaling advanced media infrastructure while ensuring reliability, performance, and technical excellence. You will combine strategic vision with hands-on technical leadership to deliver critical systems and guide engineering practices.
- Lead and mentor a team of senior engineers building next-generation media processing systems.
- Define and execute technical strategies for low-latency, high-throughput distributed systems.
- Drive architecture decisions impacting large-scale real-time communication platforms.
- Collaborate with product, platform, and engineering teams to establish technical roadmaps and priorities.
- Promote engineering excellence through strong coding standards, testing practices, and operational reliability.
- Provide technical guidance on complex media processing and infrastructure challenges.
- Balance feature delivery, technical debt reduction, scalability, and long-term system maintainability.
- Own service performance metrics, reliability goals, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Make key technology decisions that shape future platform capabilities.

- Partner with engineering leadership to align infrastructure capabilities with broader business objectives.
The ideal candidate is an experienced engineering leader with a strong background in distributed systems, backend architecture, and real-time communication technologies. You should have proven experience managing technical teams while delivering reliable, scalable infrastructure in complex environments.
- 5+ years of engineering management experience leading teams responsible for distributed systems or large-scale backend services.
- Strong understanding of Voice/VoIP infrastructure and media processing challenges.
- Proven experience architecting and operating highly reliable backend systems under strict service-level objectives.
- Deep knowledge of systems design, microservice architectures, and cloud infrastructure.
- Experience managing technical trade-offs involving reliability, scalability, performance, and product delivery.
- Track record of successfully delivering complex infrastructure projects.
- Experience improving developer productivity and workflows through AI-powered engineering tools.
- Strong knowledge of performance optimization, reliability engineering, and operational excellence practices.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Experience with real-time communication systems, media processing, streaming technologies, or related domains.
- Familiarity with SIP, RTP/RTCP, communication protocols, media codecs, transcoding, packet loss handling, or audio processing is a plus.
- Experience with systems programming languages such as Rust, Java, C, or C++ is beneficial.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or similar environments is preferred.
- Experience building Voice AI products or telecommunications platforms is an advantage.
- Competitive compensation package with a target salary range of approximately CAD 194,000 to CAD 242,500, depending on skills, experience, and location.
