TITLE: Driver Recovery Coach
POSITION SUMMARY The Driver Recovery Coach is responsible for transporting clients by van for our residential, clinical, and medical programs. The Driver will also assist in client engagement and ensuring smooth transition into their program. This position is primarily during the day, but the position requires flexibility as overlap between our evening programs, if necessary. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation. * Educates individuals on how to appropriately navigate treatment, social service and recovery support systems. * Acts as positive role model to individuals and their families, by sharing experiential knowledge, hope and skills. * Maintains relationships with individuals and families in order to assists individuals in the treatment engagement and retention process. * Reinforces guides and ensures patients and their families that recovery is possible, and is built on multiple strengths, coping abilities, and resources of each individual. * Assists survivors with gaining skills and resources needed to initiates and maintains recovery. * Assists in establishing and sustain a social and physical environment supportive of recovery. * Enhances identifies and participates in the recovery community. * Advocates for appropriate and effective community treatment and recovery. * Empowers individuals to make self-determined and self-directed choices about their recovery pathways. * Provides on-call coverage if need be * Transports patients as needed * Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Valid NJ Driver's License required.18 hours Ethics/Peer Support Training and 46 hours Recovery Specialist training (CCAR) required. CPI required within 90 days of hire or transfer. Current incumbents required to obtain CPI by 7/31/2026.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1 year of personal recovery and a knowledge of the recovery process. Ability to recognize the elements of a client crisis required. Advocates on behalf of the client(s) if in need required. Provides routine recovery check-ups through telephone support required. Ability to respect all cultures and ethic differences required.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS: Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
WORK ENVIRONMENT This position requires repetitive driving, motion, hearing, pushing, reaching, and reading, seeing, speaking, standing and sitting the majority of the time. Spends time with such equipment as computer terminal, fax machine, copier, and telephone. Essential functions of this position are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
