Job Description

POSITION: GrandBridge Tech Center Site Director

DEPARTMENT: Youth Services

PROGRAM: COMPASS

REPORTS TO: Deputy Director of Manhattan Youth Programs

SALARY: $75,000- $78,000 annually

LOCATION: New York

SCHEDULE: School Year: Monday – Friday; 10:30 a.m. – 6:30 pm OR 11 am - 7 pm, some evenings & Saturdays. Summer: 8 am – 4 pm or 10 am - 6 pm

JOB SUMMARY: The Site Director provides visionary leadership and operational oversight of the Grand Bridge Tech Center (GBTC), Grand St. Settlement's premier multi-generational technology and innovation hub. As a dynamic community resource, the Center is home to Grand St. Settlement's STEAM programming and serves as a catalyst for digital equity, workforce development, lifelong learning, and community engagement. The Site Director oversees DYCD COMPASS-funded after-school, holiday, and summer programming while leading the development of innovative, community-responsive programming that engages youth, adults, older adults, and families. This position is responsible for building strategic partnerships, supervising staff, ensuring program excellence and regulatory compliance, managing the Center's annual program calendar, and cultivating opportunities that expand access to technology, education, career pathways, and community resources. Through collaborative leadership and a commitment to equity, innovation, and excellence, the Site Director advances Grand St. Settlement's mission by empowering neighbors, strengthening communities, and creating opportunities for individuals of all ages to learn, connect, and thrive.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • At least three (3) years of experience working in a community center or school-based after-school program; at least two years of which were in a supervisory capacity
  • Required to obtain a SACC Program Director's (30-hour) credentials
  • Ability to work independently, assess priorities, and take initiative
  • Effective oral, written, collaborative skills
  • Experience in lesson planning, curriculum development, and implementation of structured programming for students in elementary school.
  • Familiarity with Program Budgeting, fiscal management a plus
  • Familiarity with DYCD Online and database management is a plus
  • Ability to maintain State Central Registry (SCR) clearance- $25 nonrefundable fee required and fingerprint clearance throughout the duration of employment
  • Experience working with students in urban school and/or community-based settings
  • Must be computer literate
  • Capacity to thrive under pressure while working on multiple tasks and projects.
  • Spanish speaking is a plus
  • Must be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with the school’s administration & personnel
  • Knowledge of the public education system and positive youth development best practices
  • Strong public speaking, writing and organizational skills
  • Must demonstrate knowledge in New York State Learning Standards
  • Knowledge in STEM, Health & Sexuality, Careers & Life Planning, Sports & Adventure, and Academic Enrichment highly desirable
  • Trained/experienced in supporting common mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance abuse

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership for the Grand Bridge Tech Center, positioning the Center as Grand St. Settlement's flagship destination for technology, innovation, STEAM education, digital equity, workforce development, and community engagement
  • Direct the overall planning, implementation, and evaluation of Center operations, ensuring alignment with Grand St. Settlement's mission, strategic priorities, and commitment to delivering high-quality, equitable services
  • Oversee all DYCD COMPASS-funded after-school, holiday, and summer programming, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, quality standards, positive youth development practices, and attendance and performance benchmarks
  • Develop, implement, and continuously enhance innovative STEAM, digital literacy, workforce readiness, entrepreneurship, academic enrichment, leadership development, creative arts, healthy living, and social-emotional learning opportunities for youth, adults, older adults, and families
  • Design and coordinate multi-generational programming that promotes lifelong learning, digital inclusion, mentorship, civic engagement, and meaningful connections across generations
  • Develop and implement outreach, recruitment, enrollment, and retention strategies that maximize participation and ensure programs meet contractual and organizational goals
  • Partner with schools, educators, and instructional staff to align after-school programming with school-day learning objectives, strengthen academic outcomes, and support participants' overall development
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive environment where participants and families feel valued, supported, and connected to opportunities and resources
  • Collaborate with social workers, mentors, behavioral health professionals, and community partners to coordinate wraparound services, crisis response planning, and referrals that support participant well-being and family stability
  • Supervise, coach, mentor, and evaluate full-time and part-time staff, interns, volunteers, and consultants while promoting professional growth, accountability, collaboration, and innovation
  • Establish measurable program outcomes and utilize data, participant feedback, and best practices to drive continuous quality improvement and demonstrate program impact
  • Build and sustain strategic partnerships with schools, colleges and universities, community-based organizations, government agencies, technology companies, workforce development providers, employers, philanthropic organizations, and local businesses to expand educational, career, and economic mobility opportunities
  • Coordinate programming with resident and partner organizations operating within the Grand Bridge Tech Center to ensure services are integrated, complementary, and responsive to community priorities
  • Develop and oversee the Center's annual programming calendar, coordinating educational programming, workshops, family engagement activities, field trips, community events, partner activities, and special initiatives
  • Champion the Grand Bridge Tech Center as a neighborhood innovation hub by cultivating new partnerships, securing resources, and promoting the Center as a destination for STEAM education, digital equity, workforce development, entrepreneurship, and community engagement
  • Represent Grand St. Settlement and the Grand Bridge Tech Center with funders, elected officials, community leaders, schools, and strategic partners, serving as an ambassador for the agency and its mission
  • Collaborate across agency departments to leverage resources, strengthen interdisciplinary programming, and advance organizational priorities.

  • Administrative Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for the daily operations of the Grand Bridge Tech Center, ensuring efficient facility management, exceptional customer service, and seamless program delivery
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, DYCD regulations, licensing requirements, Department of Health standards, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Develop, manage, and monitor program budgets, expenditures, grants, contracts, and fiscal resources while ensuring responsible stewardship of organizational assets
  • Maintain quality assurance through accurate and timely reporting of enrollment, attendance, outcomes, performance measures, grant deliverables, and participant data using required agency and funder databases
  • Monitor enrollment, attendance, participant engagement, and performance indicators to ensure contractual obligations, funding requirements, and organizational goals are consistently achieved
  • Oversee participant recruitment, enrollment, attendance, data management, and recordkeeping in accordance with agency and funder requirements.
  • Coordinate staffing plans, supervision, scheduling, facility utilization, technology resources, equipment, inventory, vendor relationships, and operational logistics to maximize efficiency and enhance the participant experience
  • Conduct regular staff supervision, team meetings, coaching, performance evaluations, and professional development planning to support staff engagement and retention
  • Oversee the planning and execution of site-wide events, community showcases, family engagement activities, workshops, and special initiatives in collaboration with Grand St. Settlement departments and community partners
  • Prepare operational reports, grant updates, performance dashboards, and other documentation for agency leadership, funders, and regulatory agencies
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for all funded programs, partnerships, operational activities, and compliance requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with facilities staff and vendors to ensure the Center remains safe, functional, technologically equipped, and responsive to maintenance and operational needs
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with agency leadership, community partners, schools, funders, and stakeholders regarding Center operations, outcomes, and strategic initiatives
  • Support agency-wide strategic planning, cross-departmental initiatives, and organizational priorities that further Grand St. Settlement's mission of strengthening communities and creating pathways to opportunity
  • Perform other administrative and leadership responsibilities as assigned

  • Maintain and diligently follow up with the custodian to ensure timely response to facility issues
