Description:
DDC is seeking a highly skilled Hardware Technician/Data Center Systems Administrator to support the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) at the Theater Enterprise Computing Center – Central Region (TECC-CR) in Bahrain. This position supports the operation, maintenance, installation, and management of critical data center infrastructure supporting Department of Defense mission requirements. The successful candidate will provide hands-on technical support for servers, storage systems, network infrastructure, cabling, and facility operations while ensuring compliance with DISA standards and security requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Data Center Operations
- Provide daily support for mission-critical DISA data center operations.
- Coordinate shipping, receiving, inventory management, and asset accountability of IT equipment.
- Support continuity of operations (COOP) planning and disaster recovery activities.
- Participate in installation planning meetings, troubleshooting sessions, and technical working groups.
- Hardware Installation and Integration
- Install, configure, integrate, and test servers, storage systems, network switches, routers, firewalls, VPN equipment, blade chassis, and associated hardware.
- Perform equipment rack and stack activities.
- Conduct hardware refresh and technology modernization efforts.
- Support physical relocation and deployment of IT systems.
- Cabling and Infrastructure Support
- Install, terminate, label, test, repair, and document copper and fiber-optic cabling.
- Maintain cable management in accordance with industry standards.
- Install patch panels, trunks, and related infrastructure components.
- Verify connectivity and support network implementation activities.
- Touch Labor Support
- Perform onsite hardware support including:
- Server power cycling
- Component replacement
- Hardware troubleshooting
- Device relocation
- Cable verification and remediation
- Workstation deployment and setup
- Coordinate with remote administrators to execute maintenance activities and restore services.
- Documentation and Compliance
- Prepare and maintain:
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Technical implementation guides
- Disaster recovery documentation
- After-action reports
- Inventory documentation
- Support inspections, audits, cybersecurity reviews, and Fleet Readiness Control Board (FRCB) activities.
- Security and Access Management
- Coordinate visitor access procedures and escort personnel when required.
- Perform package inspections and maintain visitor logs.
- Support operations involving Top Secret facilities and secure environments.
- Adhere to all DISA cybersecurity, information assurance, and physical security policies.
Qualifications:
- Education
- Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; OR
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
- Experience
- Minimum seven (7) years of experience within the last ten (10) years supporting:
- Data center operations
- Hardware installation and maintenance
- Systems administration
- Network infrastructure support
- Enterprise IT environments
- Experience directing technical work and supporting users in diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and networking issues.
- Active Top Secret security clearance.
- Ability to maintain access to classified environments and systems.
- Certifications
- DoDM 8140.03 certification (required).
- ADP IT-Level II certification (required).
- Additional industry certifications such as Security+, Network+, Server+, Microsoft, or Cisco certifications are highly desirable.
- Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting DISA, DoD, or military data centers.
- Experience with Windows Server administration and Active Directory.
- Knowledge of enterprise storage systems and virtualization platforms.
- ITIL process experience.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Experience supporting NIPRNet and SIPRNet environments
