Position Summary

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) delivers high-quality remote speech therapy

services to school-aged students. This role focuses on assessing, diagnosing, and treating

speech and language disorders while collaborating with school teams to support student

success. The SLP utilizes teletherapy tools to provide effective, engaging, and individualized

care aligned with each student’s educational goals. The SLP will also mentor/supervise our

SLPAs.

Essential Functions

An individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without

accommodation. The requirements listed below represent, but are not all-inclusive, of the

required knowledge, skills, and/or abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assessment and Evaluation:

◦ Conduct comprehensive virtual assessments using standardized and non-

standardized tools appropriate for telepractice

◦ Interpret evaluation data to determine eligibility for special education services

under IDEA guidelines

◦ Complete initial evaluations, re-evaluations, and screenings within required school

timelines

◦ Prepare clear, compliant evaluation reports for school teams and families

• Treatment Planning:

◦ Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with

student needs and academic goals

◦ Establish measurable, functional, and standards-based speech and language goals

◦ Adapt therapy plans to accommodate diverse learning styles, cultural backgrounds,

and communication needs

◦ Ensure services align with district, state, and federal special education

requirements

• Therapeutic Services:

◦ Deliver engaging, evidence-based speech therapy sessions via teletherapy

platforms

◦ Utilize digital tools, interactive materials, and strategies to maintain student

engagement in a virtual setting

◦ Provide therapy for articulation, language, pragmatics, fluency, and voice disorders

◦ Manage both individual and small group sessions effectively in an online

environment

◦ Implement behavior management strategies appropriate for virtual sessions

• Collaboration:

◦ Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and school administrators to

support student success

◦ Communicate regularly with parents/caregivers regarding progress, strategies, and

carryover activities

◦ Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including psychologists, occupational

therapists, and counselors

◦ Participate actively in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, and student support

discussions

◦ Provide consultation to school staff on classroom strategies and accommodations

• Progress Monitoring:

◦ Collect and analyze data on student performance during sessions

◦ Monitor progress toward IEP goals and adjust therapy approaches as needed

◦ Prepare and present progress reports in accordance with school district timelines

◦ Ensure compliance with service minutes and documentation requirements

• Documentation and Compliance:

◦ Maintain accurate, timely, and legally compliant documentation of therapy

sessions, evaluations, and communications

◦ Track service delivery to ensure alignment with IEP mandates

◦ Complete billing, logs, and required district documentation systems

◦ Adhere to FERPA, HIPAA (if applicable), and all confidentiality standards

• Technology and Telepractice Management:

◦ Utilize teletherapy platforms effectively for scheduling, service delivery, and

documentation

◦ Troubleshoot basic technical issues to minimize disruptions during sessions

◦ Maintain a professional virtual environment conducive to therapy

◦ Ensure secure handling of student data and digital records

• Professional Responsibilities:

◦ Stay current with best practices in teletherapy and school-based speech-language

pathology

◦ Maintain licensure and certifications as required

◦ Participate in professional development and training opportunities

◦ Uphold ethical standards outlined by ASHA and state licensing boards

Requirements/Qualifications:

• A Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

• Valid California State License in Speech-Language Pathology— must be maintained

throughout employment.

• Current ASHA certification (CCC-SLP)

• Equivalent to two (2) years of experience working with school-aged students in an

educational setting

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Talents

• Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.

• Strong knowledge of speech, fluency, language, voice, cognitive, hearing, and social

communication disorders, with the ability to accurately evaluate, diagnose, and

provide evidence-based treatment across school-aged populations.

• Ability to develop and implement individualized, student-centered therapy plans

• Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team to achieve quality

outcomes, while ensuring precise, timely documentation that meets all professional,

ethical, and regulatory standards.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with remote teams and school personnel

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, speak, and hear

• Sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a

computer screen

• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds

• Flexible engagement options: W2 (employee) or 1099 (independent

contractor)

• Full-time and part-time opportunities available

Salary

Pay: $55.00 - $65.00 per hour

Independent contractor roles must meet applicable state and federal guidelines. Final

classification will be determined based on role requirements and legal criteria.
