About the Team:
SCMP Learn is the education business unit of the South China Morning Post, dedicated to empowering educators, parents, and students passionate about cultivating the next generation’s English proficiency, critical thinking, storytelling, leadership, and future-ready skills.
Purpose of the Position:
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Event Project Manager to lead our diverse portfolio of educational events, ranging from youth programs and competitions to conferences and expert talks. The successful candidate will play a vital role within the SCMP Learn team, owning impactful events from end to end and elevating our brand influence.
In this role, you will:
- Plan and lead the execution of events from initial concept to final delivery.
- Oversee all aspects of event operations, ensuring that logistics, arrangements, and setups meet SCMP's standards.
- Liaise with and manage designers, vendors, service providers, temporary staff, and venue partners throughout all project phases.
- Communicate effectively with internal team members and external clients to ensure deliverables meet expectations and achieve pre-aligned goals.
- Manage event budgets and expenses meticulously to ensure profitability.
- Proactively share knowledge of industry best practices, new vendors, services, and venues.
- Contract positon for 6 months.
Skills and Experience that will lead to success:
- 8+ years of event management experience, preferably within corporate, education, or consumer industries.
- Proven track record in events, large-scale conferences, community engagement, and production management.
- A motivated self-starter with the ability to innovate, work independently, and build comprehensive project plans.
- Excellent project management skills, with a proven ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, influencing, and decision-making capabilities.
- An adaptable and resourceful mindset: able to follow guidance while remaining proactive in generating ideas and creative solutions.
- A customer-centric, approachable attitude; ability to adapt to diverse client needs, work styles, and changing demands to deepen relationships.
- Exceptional client management and relationship-building skills.
- Highly ambitious, proactive, and meticulously organized.
- Experience using event platform tools (e.g., Cvent) is a strong plus.
- Strong English communication skills, both in verbal presentation and professional copywriting.
Work location will be at Causeway Bay office.
