This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Billing based in the United States.

Join a remote-first engineering team responsible for billing infrastructure used by millions of developers and organizations.
You’ll design, evolve, and operate systems that directly support revenue, customer trust, and financial accuracy.
The role spans backend services, APIs, frontend experiences, cloud infrastructure, and high-scale transactional systems.
You’ll make architectural decisions where reliability, scalability, security, and developer velocity are equally important.
You’ll also mentor engineers, influence technical direction, and collaborate across product, engineering, and business teams.
The environment values strong technical judgment, curiosity, ownership, and continuous improvement.
This is an opportunity to build deep expertise in a critical engineering domain while solving complex problems at global scale.

Accountabilities:
  • Own and evolve highly scalable billing systems serving millions of users, making architectural decisions that balance reliability, performance, scalability, and engineering velocity.
  • Design, develop, maintain, and operate production software across backend services, APIs, and frontend experiences.
  • Develop and guide comprehensive testing strategies that validate solution quality, reliability, and performance, while defining meaningful success metrics.
  • Incorporate customer feedback and operational insights into continuous product and system improvements.
  • Ensure system architectures meet applicable security, compliance, reliability, and operational requirements.
  • Mentor and support engineers through technical guidance, pairing, code reviews, thoughtful feedback, and contributions to engineering-wide practices.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools effectively and help identify practical opportunities for AI-enabled engineering workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders on shared technical challenges, system design decisions, and cross-cutting architectural concerns.
  • Drive technical discussions across distributed teams and contribute to technical direction through design documentation, RFCs, and asynchronous collaboration.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, lead incident response, troubleshoot production issues, and drive reliability improvements based on operational learnings.
  • Take ownership of the overall health, quality, and operational readiness of the systems delivered by the team.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of professional experience in software engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline, with demonstrated experience maintaining and delivering production software; equivalent combinations of education and experience may also qualify.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field is preferred, with relevant experience considered in lieu of a specific degree.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and operating cloud-based services, including infrastructure and deployment considerations, on platforms such as Azure.
  • Strong production software engineering experience in one or more languages such as Go, Java, JavaScript, C#, C++, Python, Ruby, Rust, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience building and operating Go services at scale in high-traffic production environments is preferred.
  • Experience with JavaScript and frontend frameworks such as React is preferred.
  • Experience with billing, licensing, payments, subscriptions, budgeting controls, or other high-stakes transactional systems is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows, including LLM-based tooling, is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to make and communicate technical decisions across teams through RFCs, design documents, architecture discussions, and asynchronous collaboration.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and raising engineering quality through code review, pairing, technical leadership, and knowledge sharing.
  • Strong technical judgment, problem-solving ability, and a willingness to learn complex business and technical domains.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across distributed and cross-functional teams.
Benefits
  • Base salary range of $124,000–$329,200 USD per year, depending on factors such as geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Eligibility for an annual bonus and stock-based rewards for applicable roles, based on individual impact and applicable compensation plans.
  • Remote-first work environment within the United States.
  • Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits designed to support employees wherever they work.
  • Generous opportunities for professional learning, development, and career growth.
  • An inclusive, collaborative culture centered on customer focus, ownership, continuous learning, and delivering meaningful outcomes.
  • Opportunity to work on high-scale systems supporting millions of developers and organizations.
  • Minimum application period of three days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.
