Full-time Faculty Positions

Full-time faculty positions will be posted on a per-opening basis. Postings are organized by college/school and department. Applicants will be evaluated at the college/school level for the position which they are submitting an application. Unless noted by a close date, positions will remain open until they are filled. Part-time Faculty Positions

DePaul University invites expressions of interest for a pool of qualified Part Time Faculty to teach courses in a variety of disciplines across all 10 colleges and schools. Individuals may enter expressions of interest by submitting their credentials to any posting for which they are qualified to teach. Postings are organized by college/school and department. Screening of individuals in the pool is ongoing, depending on curricular need and funding. Individuals will be contacted by the department if they reach the finalist stage for teaching a particular course or set of courses. The pool will remain in place until the closing date specified in the posting details; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must resubmit. All individuals in the pool will be notified by email when the posting is closed.

The School of Public Service (SPS) in the College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences at DePaul University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will contribute to the continued development, growth, and evaluation of SPS through excellence in teaching, scholarship, service, and student-centered academic leadership.

This position supports SPS's Master of Public Policy (MPP) and Master in Public Administration (MPA) graduate programs, as well as its undergraduate BA in Public Policy degree. The courses taught by the faculty members, however, will also include students from other degree programs as listed below. We seek candidates with expertise for teaching introductory courses in public administration and public policy, practitioner-focused research methods and program evaluation, and capstone courses. Among other secondary areas of focus are government financial management and applied statistics.

SPS also seeks a scholar educator who is committed to meaningful student engagement, a focused and sustainable program of scholarship, and service to the School, College, University, profession, and community. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to preparing students for careers in public policy and public administration.

The successful candidate will be expected to:
  1. Provide high-quality and didactic classroom instruction to both graduate and undergraduate students.
  2. Engage in course development, course revision, syllabus preparation, instructional design, competency-based teaching strategies, assessment of student learning outcomes, and use of educational technologies that support student success.
  3. Contribute to the MPA and MPP programs' quality through participation in accreditation-related activities, systematic evaluation, course assessment, program assessment, and continuous quality improvement processes.
  4. Support student success initiatives, including career mentoring and support of classroom-based research projects
  5. Develop and maintain a focused, sustainable program of scholarship appropriate to a tenure-track appointment, including peer-reviewed dissemination, presentations, and pursuit of internal or external funding as appropriate.
  6. Serve on School, College, and University committees and contribute to shared governance, strategic initiatives, and the ongoing advancement of SPS.
  7. Demonstrate leadership within SPS and the community through teaching, scholarship, service, and engagement.

About the School of Public Service
DePaul University's School of Service, on DePaul's Loop Campus, offers five degrees: MPA, MPP, Master in Nonprofit Management, M.S. in International Public Service, and M.S. in Public Service Management (an executive program), as well as the undergraduate BA in Public Policy. It also offers non-degree curricular certificates and extracurricular programs in partnership with the M.A. in Sustainable Urban Development and Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan

Qualifications:
Required qualifications
  • A Ph.D. in public policy, public administration, or a related field, or plans for imminent completion of such a degree
  • Evidence of potential for effective teaching, scholarship, and service appropriate to a tenure-track faculty appointment
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success

Preferred qualifications
  • Experience teaching both graduate and undergraduate students
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity, including peer-reviewed publications, presentations, funded projects, or a developing research agenda
  • Experience with syllabus preparation and assessment of student learning outcomes or continuous quality improvement

The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the qualifications, education, experience, and training of the selected candidate, the scope and responsibilities of the position, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

About DePaul University's Academic Calendar
Except for the College of Law, DePaul University operates on a quarter system. Classes in Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters are 11 weeks in length (including finals week) and Summer courses, in two sessions, are typically 5 weeks in length. The College of Law operates on the semester system. Classes in the Fall and Spring semesters are 16 weeks in length (including finals week) and it offers a Summer Session of 7 weeks (including final exams).

Salary Information: The salary range for this 10-month position is $70,600 - $75,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
