Locatedin Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college,offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses inWellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.

Position Summary:

The idealcandidate will join a vibrant educational community and have a desire andability to serve a population of students with various needs and backgrounds. The candidate is expected to commit toexcellence in teaching and learning, collaboration and professionaldevelopment. Adjunct faculty areexpected to deliver course materials in a learner-centered environment conductiveto engaging students in the learning process. The faculty member in thisposition communicates consistently and effectively with students, faculty andadministrators, and responds to communications within a 24 hour period.The faculty is responsible for managing this course through timely grading ofassignments, providing substantial student feedback with assignments, andsubmission of clinical evaluations, attendance and grades.

MassBayCommunity College seeks qualified part time instructors to teach in-personIntroductory and Intermediate Spanish Language courses on the Wellesley andFramingham campuses.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Prepare syllabi and develop curricula to address course/program requirements and student learning outcomes to meet graduation competencies as appropriate;

  • Use appropriate assessment methods consistently and regularly to measure student understanding;

  • Maintain excellent communication with students, department and division staff throughout the semester;

  • Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence in teaching and learning;

  • Submit midterm and final grade reports, attendance records, early alerts, and other reports pertaining to assigned courses by required due dates;

  • Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Dean consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

This list is not to be considered all-inclusive. Asupervisor may assign other duties as required to meet the needs and foster themission of the College.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Spanish language, second language acquisition, linguistics, education, or related field;

  • Fluency in foreign language;

  • Knowledge, understanding, and experience teaching of foreign cultures;

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;

  • Community College experience strongly preferred;

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body;

  • Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching and assessment strategies to promote and evaluate student learning;

  • Demonstrated ability to use information technology effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action;

  • Experience working in a community college or similar environment;

  • Demonstrated commitment to working with students in need;

  • Interest and availability to work during the day and evening;

  • Demonstrated commitment to academic standards, student learning and student support.

Additional Information:

Salary Range: $1,512- $1,715 per DCE Credit

Classification Type: DCE-Adjunct
