Residential Counselor

POSITION SUMMARY:

Residential Counselor works as part of a multi-disciplinary team in providing supervision to adult residents with severe and persistent mental illness. The Residential Counselor also provides services including but not limited to client supervision, transporting residents on outings, cleaning, cooking, crisis intervention, and mediation management.

Job Type: Full Time

Pay: $20.00

Work Location: Merced

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Client supervision at assigned facility.

· Supports and assist individuals in developing independent living skills and meeting rehabilitation goals.

· Must demonstrate good judgment and emotional stability.

· Transporting residents on outings.

· Cleaning and cooking at assigned facility.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Ability to climb stairs multiple times a day and be able to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.

· Ability to sit, rise, kneel, squat, twist, pull bend multiple times a day.

· Ability to walk with items in hand, grasp and reach as needed.

· Ability to perform with repetitive maneuvers and manual dexterity.

· Ability to work in an office environment.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

· High School Diploma or GED.

· Experience working in the adult residential care industry preferred.

· At least one (1) year of Mental Health experience preferred.

· Knowledge of psychiatric illness and treatment.

· Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.

· Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work with individuals and groups.

· Ability to flex work hours as needed.

· Willing to work some weekends and overnight shift.

· Possess strong interpersonal leadership, analytic, and problem-solving skills.

· CCL approved FBI and DOJ criminal background clearances.

· Valid driver’s license.

· CPR/First Aid/BLS certification
