Job Description
Precision Healthcare Specialists is seeking a dependable and compassionate Part-Time Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our colorectal specialty team. The CMA will work closely with physicians and clinical staff to provide high-quality patient care while assisting with the daily clinical operations of the practice.
The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, attention to detail, and a patient-centered approach. Experience in colorectal, general surgery, gastroenterology, or another specialty practice is preferred but not required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for physician examinations and procedures.
- Obtain and document patient vital signs, medical histories, medications, and other pertinent clinical information.
- Assist physicians with examinations, minor procedures, and other in-office clinical needs.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, equipment, and supplies.
- Perform clinical tasks within the scope of training, certification, and applicable regulations.
- Assist with specimen collection, labeling, handling, and appropriate processing.
- Administer medications and injections as directed and within applicable guidelines.
- Perform and document clinical procedures accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Assist with patient education and provide instructions regarding medications, procedures, preparation, and follow-up care.
- Coordinate and assist with patient scheduling and follow-up appointments as needed.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, patients, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.
- Monitor and maintain adequate clinical supplies and notify appropriate personnel of supply needs.
- Follow all infection control, safety, HIPAA, and organizational policies and procedures.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times.
- Provide compassionate, respectful, and professional patient care.
- Assist with other clinical and administrative duties as assigned.
- Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous medical assisting experience preferred.
- Experience in a specialty, surgical, colorectal, gastroenterology, or similar clinical setting preferred.
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required within the applicable timeframe.
- Strong knowledge of basic clinical procedures and medical terminology.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA regulations.
- Professional, dependable, and team-oriented.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
