Job Description
OT PRN Flat Rate (MHO)
Reports to the Clinical Manager. Performs all duties of an Occupational Therapist and serves as a resource to staff, rehabilitation teams and Interns. Participates in departmental programs and activities and serves as a role model of quality clinical practice.

Provides occupational therapy procedures for patients to restore function, prevent disability and maximize potential and quality of life by:
- Performing the Essential Functions outlined in the job description of an Occupational Therapist I.
Serves as a resource to staff, rehabilitation teams and Interns by:
- Participating in the orientation of new Occupational Therapists and Rehabilitation Aides.
- Participating in the development of new patient care programs and/or revising existing programs.
- Presenting in-services to staff and students.
- Serving as Clinical Instructor of occupational therapy Interns.
- Communicating with other Occupational Therapists, Managers and Coordinators informally or in formal meetings as needed.
Supports the department by:
- Overseeing and keeping records of equipment maintenance and department supplies.
Performs other functions to maintain personal competence and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department by:
- Completing other job-related assignments and special projects as directed.
Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:
- Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
- Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
- Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
- Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
- Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.
- Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
- Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
- Complies with established organization and department policies.
- Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

- The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctoral degree of Occupational Therapy from an accredited school of occupational therapy. Requires national registration in occupational therapy and a license to practice occupational therapy in Indiana (or demonstrated eligibility). At least two years of recent clinical experience is required.
Knowledge & Skills
- Requires the ability to effectively use all evaluation tools, modalities, exercise equipment, ADL aides, and splinting/orthotic materials typically used to provide occupational therapy.
- Demonstrates the interpersonal skills needed to communicate in a tactful, sincere, effective manner with patients, families, healthcare professionals and various Hospital staff.
Working Conditions
- Works in a patient care environment requiring physical exertion, frequent changes in job demands, and certain undesirable patient care activities.
- May be exposed to bio-hazards and normal hazards encountered in a community environment.
Physical Demands
- Requires the physical ability, stamina, visual acuity, and manual dexterity (i.e. to sit/stand/walk for prolonged periods of time, push wheelchairs/carts, lift or pull patients or supplies, lift and transfer patients, etc.) to perform the essential functions of the position.
