Lead Technician
Consolidated Truck Parts & Service specializes in bumper-to-bumper light, medium and heavy-duty

POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY
Primary responsibilities include:

• Repair and Maintenance Service
• Service Process Execution

• Assist in the management process of service for the service department and facilitate the
technical triage, diagnosis, and repair service.
• Work collaboratively, providing timely communication for the Service Advisor to communicate
service progress with customers, documenting all requirements in I-Track.
• Provide assistance in labor and time quotes and estimates.
The Lead Technician reports directly to the Service Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Do The Right Thing
• Follow the Customer Communication Process to ensure excellent service to our customers.
• Communicate and collaborate with Lead Technician/Shop Foreman and Service Advisor on quotes,
Estimates, work order status, parts request, work summary attributes leading to accurate,
profitable and timely service.
• Consistently work with a mindset that is focused on safety and quality.
• Always follow work clock principles.
• Clock on accurately.
• Do not generate internal time without management approval.
• Do not have lost time.
• Fill out all paperwork completely, consistently, and accurately, i.e., 40-point inspections,
quality control documents, work order stories, parts request forms, etc.
• Keep your bay area as well as any and all areas you use clean and organized.

Customer Focused
• Always do a thorough 40-point inspection on all assigned jobs unless instructed otherwise by
your manager in order to keep our customers trucks running safely.
• Troubleshoot accurately and provide feedback on expected repairs. Be clear and concise. Give
feedback regularly to Service Advisors, Lead Technicians, and Management.
• Keep you work order “stories” up to date each time you clock off a job so the Service Advisor
can be ready with up to date information to give the customer on the repair status.
• Complete the repair process from start to finish accurately and under the estimated time,
including inspections and service order updates.
• Be ready and willing to work overtime hours to get customers back on the road fast.

• Provide coaching / training to Technicians as needed.
• Provide detailed information on the diagnosis and repair process of each job to your manager and
Service Advisor so they are prepared to speak with customers.
• Help resolve any customer and vehicle issues with your manager.
• Contribute to your peers by providing expertise and skill suggestions and diagnosis.
• Build others up, contribute a positive attitude, and be a problem solver, not complainer every
day in all you do.
• Special duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
• Maintain at least 70% Labor Productivity
Requirements:REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
•
At least 5 years practical experience with truck/tractor/trailer maintenance required
•
High school diploma or equivalent required - vocational/technical or certification preferred
•
Specialized training and experience in the diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses, ASE Certification, and 608/609 certifications preferred
•
A valid driver’s license is required
•
Current CDL license with air brake certification preferred, ability to obtain CDL required
•
Ability to lift, push, pull, carry and handle heavy machinery (up to 100 lbs), truck components and tools as needed for day-to-day operations.
