About the Role
Magris Talc is one of the world’s leading talc producers, and our Penhorwood site is located in Northern Ontario, between Foleyet and Timmins, as part of our Canadian operations. We are seeking a Mine Supervisor to support operations at our Penhorwood site. This role is critical in ensuring mining activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with production and quality targets.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Mine Supervisor oversees the coordination between internal teams, contractors, and technical services to ensure mining plans are translated into effective field execution. The role holds accountability for schedule adherence, cost control, and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
Ensure all mining activitiescomply withsite safety standards, regulations, and company policiesSupport safety programs, reporting, and continuous improvement initiativesPromote safe work practices and hold contractors accountable for safety performanceSupport risk assessments and monitoring programs related to open pit operationsProject Coordination & Operations
Assiststhe engineering team in short-term mining schedules (0–12 months) aligned with mine plansMonitor contractor performance against production targets and key metricsTranslate mining plans and designs into executable field activitiesCoordinate drilling, blasting, excavation, and crushing activitiesAct as the primary interface between site operations and contractorsLead planning meetings and performance reviewsPrepare reports, status updates, and performance tracking documentationBudget & Cost Control
Track mining costs against budgets and forecastsReview contractor performance, productivity, and invoicingAnalyze variances and recommend corrective actionsSupport budgeting and forecasting processes for mining activitiesLeadership & Collaboration
Work closely with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Environment, Operations)Build strong working relationships with contractors, stakeholders, and regulatorsContribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence initiativesSupport HR, HSEQ, and site compliance requirements as neededQualifications & Experience
4–6+ years of experience in mining or construction operationsStrong understanding of open pit mining and contractor-based operationsPrevious supervisory or leadership experienceExperience with mobile equipment operations is considered an assetStrong knowledge of safety and operational best practicesSkills & Attributes
