Job Description
This position provides leadership in the organization or functional area and is primarily engaged in management activities that establish the direction of a department, function, or project. The position requires the application of knowledge gained from experience and expertise to the job duties and responsibilities. The position will make decisions in areas that may impact the organization and its employees, clients, budgets, policies, procedures, work practices, or compliance programs.
Scope
This position performs advanced financial analysis for an office, business unit or corporate function and manages sub-functions of primary functional areas (such as optimizing financial workflows, forecasting and reporting, managing large/epic projects, and driving key performance metrics like DSO reduction and unbilled receivables, maintaining excellent client and internal relationships). Trusted advisor to leadership and the AMECO team to ensure absolute GAAP and FAR compliance, improve cash flow, etc.) This requires the ability to manage and implement strategic initiatives of the company and to organize and execute all aspects of the assigned responsibilities.
Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform advanced financial analysis to support the financial reporting requirements of the company
- Manage a department to meet financial and nonfinancial performance targets
- Manage analysts that perform financial procedures, prepare financial plans, and reports on a periodic or ad hoc basis
- Understand the business environment and how the units integrate into the corporation; provide the key linkage between the assigned area and the planning process, and contribute to the control of the business unit
- Assess plans, reports, and analysis prepared by staff
- Develop, establish, and continuously improve financial procedures and reporting for internal and external customers
- Respond to client questions regarding finance and accounting issues by possessing an expert understanding of finance and accounting activities and the transactions that form the basis of financial results
- Prepare and present financial information in appropriate format to departmental and executive management
- Typically manage personnel and provide an environment for the development and professional advancement of staff members, including on-the-job and formal training and development opportunities ,and timely performance feedback
- Leverage internal and external resources to administer policies and procedures consistently across all business lines, functions, and locations
- Analyze situations, identify and forecast pertinent problems and evaluate realistic options; and recommend/implement appropriate course of action
- Organize and prioritize a variety of complex projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines
- Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards
- Adhere to and support AMECO's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies
- Effectively develop and apply the Core Skills to the job
- May need to travel to attend to business related matters
- Meet expectations on attendance and punctuality
- Keep apprised of changes in governmental, professional, and internal reporting requirements, accounting principles and standards through analysis of published materials, attendance at professional meetings and seminars, and discussions with corporate-wide financial professionals
- Manage the day-to-day responsibilities of the sub-function/discipline to support the broader operations of the Finance Department and the Company – specifically, ensure invoices are issued timely, accurately and cash is collected per contractual terms
- Interface with other groups inside and outside the organization, senior management, other locations, financial institutions, and auditors
- Other duties as assigned
- Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and twelve (12) years* of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to sixteen (16) years* if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
- Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Working Conditions- Generally favorable indoor office workspace, and/or;
