We are currently seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in accounting principles and a desire to grow within a fast-paced environment; cannabis industry experience is a plus but not required. As our Staff Accountant, you will support the day-to-day accounting operations that keep our financial records accurate and our growing business running smoothly.
Role Summary
The Staff Accountant supports the accuracy and timeliness of the company’s core accounting functions. This position assists with transactional accounting, reconciliations, and reporting under the guidance of the Senior Accountant, and helps maintain the internal controls that support the organization's continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Responsibility: Support daily accounting functions including Billing, A/R, A/P, and General Ledger entries. Prepare and post routine journal entries under the review of the Senior Accountant. Assist with reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis. Help maintain Bill of Materials records to support cost accounting and margin visibility at the product level.
Financial Reporting & Compliance: Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules. Support preparation of regulatory reports and help track required reporting deadlines. Assist with Municipality and Social Equity Excise Fee (SEEF) tax reporting under supervision. Help ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP and applicable regulations.
Internal Controls: Follow established accounting policies and procedures to support internal controls. Assist with accurate tracking of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods inventory.
Cross-Departmental Coordination: Work with other departments as needed to gather documentation and resolve transactional questions.
Performance Monitoring: Look for opportunities to improve the efficiency and accuracy of daily accounting tasks.
Reporting and Communication: Assist with compiling data and schedules for reports on financial status shared with management.
Industry Awareness & Knowledge: Build working knowledge of cannabis-specific accounting considerations, including inventory tracking and cash handling practices. Develop a foundational understanding of manufacturing workflows, standard costing, and bill of materials structures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- 0-3 years of accounting experience; internship or entry-level experience acceptable; cannabis industry exposure a plus.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and general ledger operations.
- Exposure to month-end close processes and financial statement preparation preferred.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks preferred; solid Microsoft Excel skills required.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication skills and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly regulated environment.

Salary Range: $70,000-$80,000 annually
