This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Accountant - Business Services based in India.

The Senior Accountant - Business Services will play a key role in delivering high-quality accounting support and financial insights for small and medium-sized businesses.
This position focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and providing clients with reliable guidance for their day-to-day accounting needs.
You will work closely with clients and internal teams, combining accounting expertise with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Accountabilities:

The Senior Accountant - Business Services will be responsible for managing accounting activities, supporting client relationships, and ensuring accurate financial operations. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to use technology-driven solutions to deliver efficient accounting services.

  • Prepare and lodge accurate Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), ensuring GST and payroll liabilities are reconciled and compliant with Australian regulations.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and complete sets of accounts for a portfolio of clients using cloud-based accounting platforms such as Xero and Dext.
  • Manage fixed assets, journals, reconciliations, reporting activities, and general ledger integrity.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoicing, collections, payments, and supplier/client reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with bookkeeping and tax teams to ensure accurate transaction processing and smooth financial operations.
  • Assist with monthly management accounts and financial reporting, providing clients with actionable financial insights.
  • Support payroll activities and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a trusted advisor for clients, providing guidance and resolving accounting-related questions.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication and proactive support.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and leverage technology, automation, and AI-enabled tools to enhance service delivery.
  • Take ownership of tasks, resolve challenges proactively, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced accounting professional with strong knowledge of Australian accounting practices, client management experience, and the ability to operate effectively in a technology-enabled environment. The role requires a detail-oriented mindset, strong analytical capabilities, and excellent communication skills.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Accountant within Australian accounting environments.
  • Experience managing client relationships and communicating directly with business owners.
  • Strong understanding of BAS, IAS, GST reconciliation, financial reporting, and accounting compliance requirements.
  • Experience maintaining full sets of accounts and performing reconciliations, journals, and reporting activities.
  • Familiarity with cloud accounting platforms such as Xero and tools such as Dext.
  • Experience with corporate tax returns is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and complex workstreams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly.
  • Ownership mindset with the ability to take responsibility and follow tasks through to completion.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and structured thinking when addressing financial challenges.
  • Data-driven approach with the ability to use insights to improve processes and decision-making.
