The Network Operations Engineer will be responsible for building and maintaining automation capabilities that enhance network operations across complex enterprise environments. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to translate technical requirements into reliable solutions while improving operational practices.
- Develop and maintain network automation solutions using Python, modern APIs, and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.
- Automate network configuration, change management, monitoring, and operational workflows across multi-vendor environments.
- Design, implement, and support production-grade automation tools with strong software engineering practices.
- Work with networking technologies including routing, switching, BGP, and enterprise infrastructure platforms.
- Build and improve CI/CD workflows, testing processes, and Git-based development practices for automation projects.
- Integrate network automation frameworks and tools to improve visibility, consistency, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, operations, and business stakeholders to define and deliver effective solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and design reviews to maintain high engineering standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing across technical teams.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, scalability, and automation maturity.
The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of networking expertise, software development experience, and the ability to operate effectively in a collaborative engineering environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Networking, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in network automation or related engineering roles.
- Strong Python development skills, including object-oriented programming, testing, and software packaging.
- Deep understanding of networking fundamentals, including routing, switching, and BGP.
- Hands-on experience with network automation frameworks such as Netmiko, NAPALM, Nornir, or Scrapli.
- Experience working with network APIs including NETCONF, RESTCONF, and gNMI.
- Strong knowledge of Ansible and Jinja2 templating for automation workflows.
- Familiarity with source-of-truth platforms such as NetBox or Nautobot.
- Experience with Git workflows and CI/CD practices.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver reliable solutions in a remote environment.
- Preferred experience with Cisco DevNet or vendor automation certifications, multi-vendor networks, cloud networking automation, observability platforms, or open-source contributions.
- Competitive annual salary range of $105,000–$120,000.
