This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Tax Lead based in India.
This is a senior regional tax leadership role responsible for overseeing tax matters across the APAC region within a fast-moving global organization. You will act as the primary tax advisor for regional operations, balancing compliance, strategic planning, and business support. The role covers a broad range of tax areas, including international, direct, indirect, corporate, and personal taxation. You will partner with local teams, external advisors, global tax stakeholders, and tax authorities to manage complex matters and mitigate risk. You will also help shape tax strategies for new products, services, commercial arrangements, and business initiatives. This remote position offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to contribute to high-impact regional tax projects in a rapidly evolving industry.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for tax matters across the APAC region, providing clear guidance and coordinating regional tax activities.
- Oversee tax compliance activities by working closely with local teams and external tax advisors to ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality filings and reporting.
- Provide practical internal tax advice across international, direct, indirect, corporate, and personal taxation matters.
- Advise business teams on the tax implications of commercial transactions, contractual arrangements, new products, services, and other strategic initiatives.
- Identify tax planning opportunities and implement appropriate optimization strategies while maintaining alignment with the broader global tax structure and objectives.
- Partner with the global tax function to ensure consistency, effective knowledge sharing, and alignment between regional and global tax strategies.
- Manage relationships and communications with local tax authorities, including responding to queries, coordinating audits, and handling tax challenges, disputes, and litigation.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation, regulations, and government policy across APAC, including developments relevant to the digital-asset and cryptocurrency sector.
- Assess the potential impact of regulatory changes and translate developments into practical recommendations for business stakeholders.
- Lead or oversee ad-hoc tax projects across APAC, coordinating stakeholders and ensuring projects are delivered effectively and within required timelines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Accounting, Economics, Taxation, or a closely related discipline.
- 12+ years of professional tax experience, ideally gained within a Big 4 firm and/or an in-house tax function.
- Demonstrated experience operating as a senior tax leader across the Asia Pacific region, with strong exposure to tax operations and compliance.
- Broad understanding of regional taxation, including international, direct, indirect, corporate, and personal tax matters.
- Experience providing tax advice on business transactions, contractual structures, new products, services, and commercial initiatives.
- Strong understanding of tax compliance, audits, tax authority relationships, disputes, and regulatory developments across multiple APAC jurisdictions.
- Experience identifying tax optimization opportunities while balancing commercial objectives, compliance requirements, and risk.
- Familiarity with emerging tax considerations associated with digital assets, cryptocurrency, blockchain, or other rapidly evolving technology sectors is advantageous.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to translate complex tax matters into practical business recommendations.
- Fast learner who can adapt quickly to changing regulations, business priorities, and a rapidly evolving operating environment.
- Highly proactive and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
- Hands-on approach with strong ownership of deliverables and the ability to move projects forward with limited supervision.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across regional and global teams.
