The Principal is responsible for driving the achievement of enhanced academic standards for students. This position will lead and manage Tennyson's academic programs including staff supervision and development, curriculum development and implementation, and fiscal management of Tennyson's school. The Principal provides educational leadership, ensures compliance with state academic standards, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement focused on student achievement and growth.

Essential Job Functions
  • Provides leadership and oversight for educational programming to K-12 students
  • Implements and supervises general administrative procedures including admissions, enrollment, records requests, contracting, report cards, and transcripts
  • Coordinates with the Colorado Department of Education to ensure compliance with state academic requirements and standards, including monitoring visits and school improvement planning
  • Develops and manages the annual educational budget, monitoring income and expenses monthly to ensure fiscal responsibility
  • Completes grant reporting responsibilities, including data collection, analysis, and timely submission of required reports
  • Develops and supervises academic curriculum, including focus on research-based models, progress monitoring and assessment
  • Oversee the yearly calendar and schedule, ensuring that CDE requirements are met.
  • Ensures that education staff adheres to state standards, curriculum guides from the Colorado Department of Education, and evidence-based instructional and engagement strategies
  • Manages and develops materials and resources for curriculum support within budgetary guidelines
  • Oversees recruitment and hiring of education staff, including verification of educator licensing and qualifications
  • Oversee Infinite Campus (IC), grade reporting, and graduation requirements
  • Supports supervisors with personnel issues and encourages staff development and growth throughout the organization
  • Facilitates staff development and training, including empowering and growing new leaders, supporting supervisors with personnel issues, and conducting consistent classroom observations and documentation
  • Supervises and documents teachers' professional development including licensure maintenance and advancement
  • Ensures quality of educational transition planning, documentation of academic credit, report cards, and progress toward graduation requirements
  • Represents Tennyson Center at state level meetings, community forums, and other external educational venues
  • Communicates, collaborates, and coordinates with Program Leadership and staff to ensure integration of services and programming
  • Actively communicates with Program Leadership staff regarding critical issues related to education
  • Builds excellent relationships with school districts and other community partners, marketing and responding to customer needs
  • Collects and analyzes educational outcome data, including progress measures related to academic and social/emotional growth, to support school improvement planning
  • Responsible for maintaining up to date applicable personal professional license and/or professional certification
  • Supports and advances quality improvement efforts through adherence to Tennyson Center policies and procedures, regulatory standards, and best practices
  • Attends Leadership Council, Campus Leadership, admissions meetings, Quality Improvement meetings, and other meetings as assigned
  • Other related duties as assigned

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to successfully complete a pre-hire physical
  • Implement behavioral interventions as needed

Working Conditions
  • In person on campus work/school and treatment environment
  • M-F 8:00 AM-4:00 PM
  • Year-round position

Minimum Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in Special Education
  • Valid Principal License or Special Education Administrator License
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience to include classroom experience working with people with Serious Emotional Disabilities and administrative experience, required
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experience using i-Ready, IXL, School-Wide Information System (SWIS) and Infinite Campus administrative programs preferred
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle stressful situations without loss of efficiency and composure
  • Ability to analyze situations, make data-driven decisions and develop creative solutions
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills necessary to lead and motivate teams
  • Strong analytical and reasoning abilities
  • Efficiency and time management skills
  • All candidates must have (or qualify to obtain) a current Colorado driver's license

The estimated salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $100,000.00.
