Technical Specialist/Sr Technical Specialist (Civil Technical Specialist)
BHE GT&S has an exciting opportunity as a Technical Specialist/Senior Technical Specialist (Civil Technical Services) at our White Oaks General Office location in Bridgeport, WV.
- Lead planning, design, procurement, and construction activities for pipeline, compression, and civil/structural projects across the BHE GT&S system.
- Provide technical oversight, engineering reviews, and support throughout all project phases.
- Perform civil and structural evaluations, including concrete design verification, bridge and pipe bridge analysis, geotechnical assessments, critical lifts and review of fieldprepared designs.
- Manage mitigation and remediation projects such as landslides, pipe exposures, and building installations.
- Prepare engineering specifications, drawings, cost estimates, and reports; conduct studies and investigations.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, review specifications, and provide recommendations for repairs and assessments of existing structures.
- Deliver engineering assistance to internal teams, including training for engineers.
- Provide PE signoff for applicable intrastate projects.
- Track and forecast project budgets and support continuous improvement initiatives.
5+ years of relevant experience and demonstrated competencies in applicable discipline.
In-depth knowledge of engineering principles, theories, and practices.
Ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
Ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
Strong oral, written, and graphical communication skills, including technical writing.
Ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.
Ability to conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments.
Ability to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes.
Ability to function effectively independently and as a member on a technical team.
Excellent organization and project management skills.
Excellent personal computer skills, including knowledge of applicable software programs.
Education
Bachelor (Typically four years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
