Job Description
Job Summary:
Administer hyperbaric oxygen therapy and diagnostic testing to patients of the Wound Center, under the supervision of a hyperbaric physician. All therapeutic and diagnostic modalities will be ordered by the hyperbaric physician.
Performance Expectations:
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed.
- Demonstrates thorough, concise and timely documentation, shift reports and verbal communication. Communicates pertinent patient information to all health care team members.
- Maintains own clinical skills staying current in skills, equipment and certifications required in specific area.
- Communicates effectively with others in an appropriate and timely manner. Adheres to and promotes the established values of the organization, i.e. customer service, safety and compliance standards.
- Demonstrates ability to perform all technical skills required for each unit’s population by rendering professional nursing care, and performs both complex and routine treatments as ordered by physician.
- Demonstrates thorough, concise and timely documentation
- Completes Prior Authorizations with patient insurance company prior to treatments scheduled
- Safety Director for Hyperbaric Chamber and completes daily safety checks prior to chamber use daily
- Reports all safety concerns to department manager, director, and medical director
- Plans Annual Fire drill with integrated team including maintenance director and department director.
- Ensures Quarterly and Annual Drills are completed and documented and placed in the department safety manual.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
Must be credentialed or licensed in the state where working.
Work Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years experience in healthcare is required. Wound or Hyperbaric experience is preferred.
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE-Must be licensed/certified in one of the following:
- National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
- Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician
- Licensed LPN able to practice within the State of MS
- Licensed RN able to practice within the State of MS
- Emergency Medical Technician
- Certified Hyperbaric Technologist
Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below
- Basic Life Support
