What Success Looks Like

A successful Powder Coating Specialist will have a great eye for detail and enjoy seeing a job well done! They will work in a small team, with the Powder Coating Lead, to expand RBW’s powder coating capacity and capabilities. The Powder Coating Specialist will efficiently carry out standard processes, while identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement. This role will allow us to enhance the on-time delivery process of beautifully crafted and finished products to customers and clients. During your first year, you will also rotate through adjacent departments such as Assembly, Warehousing, and Shipping to learn useful skills that will help accelerate your career at RBW. We are looking for self-starters, who are proactive and enjoy seeing tasks through to completion.

Key Responsibilities & Activities

• Clean and prep raw materials for finishing, including sandblasting
• Mask and rack parts according to drawings and SOPs
• Set up, operate, and maintain electrostatic powder spray guns
• Manage curing process in accordance with the powder manufacturer’s specifications
• Visually inspect parts exiting paint booth and oven and report non-standard conditions
• Work with the Powder Coating Lead to develop SOPs and modify processes to improve quality and reduce waste
• Test and evaluate powder coating applications, including adhesion and thickness testing
• Meet timelines set by production schedule
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects to maximize yield, capacity, and capability
• Support in maintaining inventory of necessary supplies and powder
• Clean equipment and work area regularly in addition to routine maintenance.

Skills, knowledge and expertise

• Minimum 3 years of working in powder coating
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and work orders
• Powder Coating 202 Training from the Powder Coating Institute (preferred)
• Able to stand for long period of time and lift up to 50 lbs
• Experience with PPE standards and the safe handling of cleaning chemicals
• Experience developing and improving powder coating application processes
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodations
• Must be able to support flexible work hours between 6am and 8pm.
