Job Description

Summary

The Automation Specialist reports to the Automation Division Manager and is responsible for developing and driving the sales of packaging equipment.

Responsibilities - Essential

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the packaging equipment industry with basic knowledge of packaging materials and sources for equipment and consumables
  • Lead the activities for training the sales force in the new technologies and functionalities with regard to packaging equipment and automation systems
  • Generate packaging equipment and material handling solutions by conducting plant surveys, identifying opportunities, and proceeding to specify the proper equipment for the challenge with existing and new customers
  • Build strong relationships with plant engineers, operation leaders, and equipment buyers with existing and new customers
  • Create accurate plant layouts and conceptual drawings for projects that require a higher degree of engineering than an equipment brochure
  • Identify opportunities related to packaging automation and provide solutions that contribute to the sales and profit generated from existing and new customers

Responsibilities - Non-Essential

  • Identify opportunities in all areas of packaging and provide solutions that contribute to the sales and profit generated from existing and new customers
  • Maintain an awareness of marketplace opportunities, trends, changes, and threats to the success of IPS Packaging
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Automation Division Manager and/or Chief Product Officer (CPO)

Skills and Experience

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years of Packaging Equipment experience
  • Ability to utilize AutoCAD to generate plant layouts
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal and conflict management skills
  • Technical Skills: PC Software; Microsoft Office, proficiency required
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
