Beckhoff USA is seeking an Engineering Support Intern for Summer 2027 to join our fast-paced support team at our U.S. headquarters in Savage, MN. Beckhoff is a global leader in PC-based control and industrial automation, helping engineers solve some of the world’s toughest challenges.

In this role, you’ll go beyond the classroom by learning directly from seasoned engineers who thrive on problem-solving. From troubleshooting real-world customer challenges to working hands-on with Beckhoff’s industry-leading products, you’ll gain the kind of experience that builds both technical skills and professional confidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work hands-on with Beckhoff hardware and software through training, testing, and real-world troubleshooting.
  • Shadow and support engineers on customer visits, gaining insight into technical service and client interaction.
  • Tackle customer technology challenges through research and guided troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with fellow interns and teammates to create innovative projects using Beckhoff products.
  • Present your learnings and accomplishments to peers and senior managers at the conclusion of your internship.

What We’re Looking For – Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Have or pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical field from a four-year college or technical school.
  • An eagerness to learn about automation hardware and software.
  • Basic level of programming proficiency in one or more languages.
  • Experience with hands on mechanical or electrical project(s).
  • Self-starter with a result driven personality.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills.
  • Ability to maintain focus and professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.


Work Location

This position is based on-site at our Beckhoff Automation USA Headquarters in Savage, MN. Regular in-person attendance is required to support team collaboration and business operations.


Travel

This position requires varying travel ranging from 0-5% which may include day trips, overnight stays, and occasional extended travel depending on business needs. Travel may be local, regional, or national. All travel-related expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with company policy. Candidates must be able to meet the travel requirements of the role, and reasonable accommodations will be provided as needed in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
