This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Paralegal based in Brazil.
This is an opportunity to support a US criminal defense practice in a fully remote legal operations role.
You’ll play a critical part in keeping cases organized, filings accurate, and court-related activities on schedule.
The role combines legal administration, case coordination, document preparation, and communication with courts and legal professionals.
You’ll work closely with legal teams while serving as a reliable point of coordination for hearings, depositions, and court dates.
Success in this position requires exceptional organization, discretion, and a strong understanding of US legal procedures.
It is well suited to a self-directed professional who thrives under firm deadlines and takes ownership of detail-sensitive work.
The position offers the opportunity to contribute to a US legal environment while working remotely from Brazil.
- Manage background legal preparation, draft basic legal documents, and compile complete and organized case files.
- Coordinate court dates, hearings, depositions, and court appearances with opposing counsel, judicial officers, court staff, and other relevant parties.
- Monitor court dockets, filing deadlines, procedural requirements, and case schedules to ensure matters progress on time.
- Organize, review, and redact legal documents and evidence in preparation for hearings and other proceedings.
- Maintain accurate case management records, client files, calendars, and related documentation.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with internal legal teams, opposing counsel, court personnel, and other stakeholders.
- Manage multiple calls, deadlines, and administrative priorities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
- Support the legal team with reliable behind-the-scenes coordination throughout the case lifecycle.
- 2+ years of professional Paralegal experience, with experience supporting US law firms required.
- Previous experience in US criminal law is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience coordinating court schedules, depositions, hearings, filings, and docket management.
- Strong understanding of US legal procedures, terminology, court rules, and filing requirements.
- Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with legal professionals and court personnel.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage strict court deadlines and multiple priorities independently.
- High attention to detail and strong judgment when handling sensitive legal information and confidential case materials.
- Strong emotional intelligence, professionalism, discretion, and reliability.
- Experience working with Filevine, Clio, or similar legal case management systems.
- Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment and taking ownership of critical legal coordination tasks.
- Fully remote position, allowing you to work from Brazil.
- Full-time schedule aligned with 9:00 AM–5:00 PM EST.
- Monthly compensation of USD $1,200–$1,600.
- US federal holidays observed.
