Nuclear Engineer/Health Physicist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Nuclear Engineer/Health Physicist based in United States.

This mid-level role offers the opportunity to contribute to complex nuclear safety and environmental assessments supporting government and regulated-industry programs.
You will evaluate nuclear facilities and related activities for potential impacts to human health, safety, air quality, hydrogeology, and the environment.
The position involves working on technically rigorous assessments involving uranium mills, in situ uranium recovery facilities, nuclear reactors, and other nuclear facilities.
You will apply your technical expertise to support safety evaluations, environmental reviews, and evidence-based recommendations.
The role provides exposure to federal and state agency projects and requires strong analytical judgment and attention to technical detail.
Qualified candidates may work from anywhere in the United States, with Washington, D.C. preferred.

Accountabilities
  • Perform environmental assessments and safety evaluations of nuclear facilities and related operations for federal and/or state agencies.
  • Evaluate potential impacts associated with nuclear facilities, including hydrogeological conditions, human health and safety, air quality, and other environmental considerations.
  • Support assessments involving uranium mills, in situ uranium recovery facilities, nuclear reactors, and similar nuclear-sector operations.
  • Apply nuclear engineering and health physics expertise to analyze technical information, identify risks, and support defensible conclusions and recommendations.
  • Research, document, and reference previous safety and environmental evaluations as appropriate to support project findings.
  • Apply radiation assessment and modeling tools such as RESRAD, MicroShield, and MILDOS when relevant to project requirements.
  • Prepare clear, technically rigorous documentation and communicate findings effectively to project teams, government stakeholders, and clients.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues while maintaining a strong focus on technical quality, client satisfaction, and project objectives.
  • Maintain professionalism, accuracy, and accountability while working on sensitive and technically complex assignments.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering, health physics, environmental science, or another appropriate technical discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in nuclear engineering, health physics, environmental assessment, safety evaluation, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating nuclear facilities for environmental and safety impacts, preferably including uranium mills, in situ uranium recovery facilities, and/or nuclear reactors.
  • Practical understanding of potential nuclear-facility impacts on hydrogeology, human health and safety, air quality, and the broader environment.
  • Previous experience supporting projects for federal and/or state government agencies is highly valuable.
  • Experience with radiation assessment or modeling codes such as RESRAD, MicroShield, and MILDOS is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, research, technical writing, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical information and develop clear, well-supported assessments and recommendations.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented consulting environment.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.
