Description:
State Fair Community College is an accessible, learning-centered institution, enriching its students and community by providing skills, knowledge and perspectives essential for a changing world. The Student Tutor position is a part time job offering 3-17 hours per week. Schedules will vary and are flexible to meet the individual’s own class schedule.
Example of Duties
The primary duty will be to provide tutoring for students in classes the tutor is qualified to tutor.
- Enforce policies related to computer use inside the tutoring lab and/or library
- Assist students with computer software issues (if knowledgeable of the program)
- Tutor math or writing in various courses, or other courses – as requested by individual departments (tutoring referral form required for specialized areas such as music theory, allied health programs, technical programs, etc.)
The preceding duties have been provided as examples of the essential types of work performed by positions within this job classification. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind work assignments as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher and have successfully passed any course the individual will be tutoring with a minimum final grade of a B. Candidates should be able to perform all duties with accuracy, efficiency, and professionalism. The candidate should be able to work with and properly interact with a diverse group of students.
This position is a part of the Federal work-study program, to qualify you must be a State Fair Community College student enrolled in the current semester and eligible for Financial Aid thorough the Federal Work-study program.
Employment will require a criminal background check at College expense. Preference is given to Missouri residents.
