JOB SUMMARY

The Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and components. This position requires the ability to read blueprints, use precision measuring instruments, and ensure all parts meet quality and safety standards while supporting efficient manufacturing operations.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Set up and operate manual and/or CNC lathes, mills, grinders, and other machine tools.

· Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and job travelers to determine machining requirements.

· Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials for each job.

· Measure, inspect, and verify dimensions of finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

· Adjust machine settings, speeds, and feeds to achieve proper tolerances and surface finishes.

· Perform routine machine maintenance and minor repairs as needed.

· Identify and troubleshoot machining issues, including tool wear and dimensional inaccuracies.

· Deburr, clean, and finish machined parts according to specifications.

· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

· Follow all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

· Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and other shop personnel to meet production goals.

· Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· 5+ years of previous experience as a machinist in a manufacturing environment

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

· Proficient in the use of precision measuring tools.

· Knowledge of machining practices, materials, and tooling.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

· Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds.
