Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants in support of delivering expert dermatology medical care to our patients. Day-to-day activities will vary from greeting and interacting with patients, collecting patient intake information, returning phone calls, responding to electronic patient correspondence, performing point-of-care testing, scribing in the electronic medical record system, setting up exam rooms and preparing for surgical procedures as well as assisting with surgical procedures all while executing our goal to provide first-rate patient care.

Overall, the Medical Assistant has a direct interaction with patients and is an integral component in helping deliver our mission of bringing state-of-the-art expertise and patient care to our clientele.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assists during dermatological procedures and surgeries, including setting up and sterilizing instruments and completing documentation logs of such.
  • Assisting the Provider with minor surgeries to include but not limited to skin cancer, cysts, and lipomas.
  • Performs intramuscular and subcutaneous injections and numbing injections.
  • Maintains medical terminology knowledge, especially as it pertains to dermatology.
  • Professionally responds to patient Klara messages, electronic faxes, and patient phone call inquiries.
  • Professionally greets patients, records medical histories, and takes their vital signs.
  • Helps room patients and prepare them for examinations and procedures.
  • Communicates aftercare follow up instructions to patients.
  • Performs in room scribing with medical provider throughout the appointment and ensures accuracy in all charting activities.
  • Assisting with ordering and inventory of medical supplies
  • Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by always keeping information confidential in compliance with all HIPAA and OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing all related tasks as needed.
  • Always provides superior customer service excellence.
  • Remains flexible on behalf of the position and the team
  • Ability to interact both positively and professionally through multiple departments within the practice.
  • Ability to work both independently as well as within a team environment.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Medical Assistant experience or the equivalent thereof in a high-volume medical setting with the ability to read, write and interpret medical terminology, dermatology a plus.
  • Completion of a technical/vocational training school program with either CMA, AAMA, RMA, or CCMA Medical Assistant certification -OR- Emergency Medical Technician certification preferred.
  • Previous experience scribing in the room for the Provider.
  • Current CPR, First Aid or BLS certificate
  • Ability to speak other languages a plus.

Working Conditions

  • Required to move from one location to another within and outside of the building; push, pull and reach; bend; stand, walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work 8-10+ hour shifts and be available for overtime when necessary.
  • Must be able to speak and write English fluently.
  • Ability to lift to 25 lbs.

On-Site Presence Required and must have reliable transportation.

Hours: TBD based upon department needs between the hours of 7:00am-5:30pm as assigned
