Line and Prep Cooks at The Oak Room – Mesa, Arizona

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are a new Gastropub in downtown Mesa and are seeking line and prep cooks! We need cooks who thrive in a fast-paced, non-corporate environment, and are motivated to make new & interesting food from our menus. The selected applicants will have a genuine interest in fostering a customer dining experience that is phenomenal. Under the supervision of our Executive Chef & Kitchen Manager, Job Functions include:

• Prepping ingredients and assembling dishes according to restaurant recipes and specifications
• Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
• Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
• Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
• Clean up station and take care of leftover food
• Stock inventory appropriately
• Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
• Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
• Maintaining and cleaning the kitchen and equipment;
• Regular Dishwashing
• Other duties assigned by the Executive Chef or GM answer, report and follow executive chef’s instructions

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum age of 19;
• High School education or equivalent
• Previous restaurant experience preferable; culinary training a plus
• Open and flexible availability including holidays, weekends, days, nights
• Determined and diligent worker
• Drug free – Must pass drug screening test
• Highly reliable; shows up to work when scheduled and on time; has reliable transportation.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. on a frequent basis and 100 lbs. on an occasional basis, push/pull up to 40 lbs., carry up to 30 lbs. for up to 100 yards, and constantly stand and walk.
• Requires occasional stooping, bending, twisting, crouching, kneeling and crawling.
• Regularly required to use hands to handle, or feel; talk; see; and/or hear. Must be physically able to handle, grasp and reach frequently throughout the workday.
