POSITION OVERVIEW

The Design Engineering Manager will work closely with the Director of Engineering to make sure Design Engineers in each location possess the necessary knowledge and skillsets to support the design of applications in their area of expertise. Through both in-person and remote collation the Design Engineering Manager directs and coordinates all Design Engineering activities to meet customer specifications and to resolve engineering problems involved in the manufacturing of applications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITES

Develop and maintain product and application knowledge
Develop and maintain software and design knowledge standards for electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic design
Work with the design engineering team to train and develop their knowledge to meet expected standards
Develop and maintain standards and templates for all design outputs including manufacturing prints, factory acceptance tests, quality review sheets, and bill of material templates
Collaborate with production and materials to track, review, and address issues that from engineering and implement changes to continuously improve engineering output
Limited travel between branches to interact with direct reports in person and collaborate with plant / production managers to better understand the requirements of each production facility

SKILLSET

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent experience such as 8+ years of Control Panel Design.
Minimum of 2 Years of Management Experience.
Knowledge of CAD software for electrical and mechanical design. EPLAN preferred, SolidWorks or AutoCAD acceptable.
Maintain a strong work ethic and capacity to thrive in a team environment
Excel in both verbal and written communications
Effectively and efficiently use Microsoft software (Teams, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and business software used by the company
Knowledge of ERP, CRM, and QMS systems

MEASURE OF SUCCESS

Reduction of issues in production related to engineering output
Reduction of issues in materials related to engineering output
Reduction in turnaround time of engineering output to Sales and Application Engineers

Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm

The pay range for this role is:
80,000 - 150,000 USD per year(Heitek Automation - Arizona)
