Position Summary:
The Head Swim Coach is responsible for the day to day management of assigned age-group(s). The head coach is responsible for the overall planning and goal setting for this group while role modeling good sportsmanship and YMCA core values.
Requirements:Essential Functions:
1. Coach and lead practices based on the needs of the age group and individual swimmers.
2. Guides athletes in their assigned age-group with short and long term goal setting.
3. Create swim meet entries for athletes in assigned group.
4. Attend all swim meets that age-group is participating in. If unable to attend, arrange appropriate coaching and communicate to all necessary parties.
5. Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Completes related reports as required.
6. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.
7. Attends all staff meetings

Qualifications:
1. Minimum age of 16.
2. Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen.
3. Current YMCA or ARC Lifeguard or equivalent.
4. Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
5. Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
