Job Summary:

The Accounting Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and efficient management of the company's financial resources. This role involves managing a team of accountants, ensuring the smooth operation of accounts payable, receivable, general ledger, and payroll functions, and driving process improvements to enhance financial accuracy and efficiency.

Job Description:

Core areas of responsibility are:

Oversee Daily Accounting Operations:

  • Responsible for the overall management of the General Ledger and Balance Sheet to ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Responsible for the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions.
  • Monitor and control the flow of financial data into the company’s accounting systems.
  • Assisting with the management of the month end close, including but not limited to, ensuring that cash balances are accurate and accounted for, receivables have been followed up on, and payables have been recorded and disbursed in the appropriate period.
  • Supervising staff accurately records all costs and income, preparing financial reports and reviewing account balance reconciliations and journals.
  • Financial Reporting:

  • Coordinate and assist with audits, providing necessary documentation and responses to inquiries.
  • Maintain and manage accurate files to ensure the accuracy and compliance of financial records.
  • Team Management:

  • Oversee training, and professional development of accounting staff.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Work with department heads to ensure accurate budgeting and cost control.
  • Process Improvement:

  • Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.

  • Collaborate with auditors during the annual audit, managing the audit and ensuring timely responses to requests, and accurate financial data is supplied.
  • Prepare and file sales and use tax returns, 1099, as well as other state, local, or federal reporting in a timely manner.
  • Provide ad-hoc reporting on an as needed basis.
  • Other special projects, program analysis, duties, and miscellaneous accounting-related tasks as needed. These other duties may include overseeing the implementation of new software or systems or supervising any updates to the organization’s financial practices.
  • Skills, competences, and knowledge to perform the work

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, and at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Experience in cost accounting preferred.
  • Knowledge of GAAP/IFRS , financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience with accounting software Microsoft Dynamics and analytics tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
  • Work Environment

    Hybrid - onsite in combined office and farm/production environment and work-from-home
