Position Summary
The Assistant Shipping Manager (2nd Shift) is responsible for executing daily shipping operations with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and accountability. This role leads floor execution during second shift, ensuring all outbound orders, transfers, and staging activities are completed on time and in full while maintaining system and physical alignment. This position plays a critical role in maintaining operational flow between production, staging, and outbound shipping, especially in a fast-paced, production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Execution:
• Oversee all 2nd shift shipping activities including outbound loads, interfacility transfers, and staging
• Ensure all shipments are picked, staged, verified, and loaded accurately
• Drive adherence to load schedules and minimize detention risk
• Manage dock flow, door assignments, and labor allocation in real time
• Ensure all products are shipped from correct system locations
Inventory & System Accuracy:
• Enforce RF scanning compliance for all transactions (picking, transfers, loading)
• Ensure alignment between physical product and system inventory
• Prevent and resolve discrepancies (shorts, overages, wrong lot/PO issues)
• Maintain clean and organized staging locations
Team Leadership
• Lead, coach, and hold accountable hourly team members
• Set clear expectations for performance, safety, and behavior
• Address attendance, productivity, and conduct issues in real time
• Support training and development of new hires and existing staff
