Job Summary
Aretum is seeking an experienced Facilities Inspector to support inspection activities at an onsite government installation in San Antonio, Texas. This role is responsible for conducting detailed inspections of buildings, support facilities, and assigned structures; identifying deficiencies; documenting findings; and helping ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and compliant with applicable standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong inspection experience, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a highly regulated military installation environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections of assigned buildings, facilities, and support structures to identify structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, roofing, and general property condition issues.
- Evaluate visible building components and systems for safety, functionality, and maintenance concerns in accordance with applicable inspection standards and site requirements.
- Prepare clear, detailed inspection reports documenting deficiencies, observations, recommended corrective actions, and overall condition assessments.
- Photograph and document inspection findings and maintain complete inspection records in accordance with contract and customer requirements.
- Coordinate with facility management, maintenance teams, and government representatives regarding inspection findings, repairs, and follow-up actions.
- Verify completion of corrective actions or repairs, as assigned, and perform re-inspections when needed.
- Support compliance with installation safety procedures, environmental requirements, and site access protocols.
- Maintain professionalism and discretion while working in a secure military environment.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- ASHI certification required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience conducting building, property, housing, or facility inspections.
- Strong working knowledge of building systems, including structural components, roofing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general safety considerations.
- Experience preparing formal written inspection reports with clear documentation of findings and recommendations.
- Ability to identify deficiencies, assess severity, and communicate issues effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work onsite full-time in San Antonio, Texas.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required installation/base access.
Preferred Qualifications
- Texas inspector license preferred or required, as applicable to the contract scope.
- Experience supporting inspections in government, military, industrial, or secure facility environments.
- Familiarity with military installation procedures, safety protocols, and controlled-access work environments.
- Secret clearance or prior eligibility for access to military installations preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple inspections and reporting deadlines.
