About This Position
The Inventory Control Specialist supports and controls the flow of materials throughout the manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for managing a highly diverse inventory environment. This includes handling thousands of unique items including hardware, electronic components, metal, and shelf-life controlled products. Accuracy is critical, as part numbers are often long, alphanumeric, and may differ by only a single character - requiring constant vigilance to prevent costly errors.
The role also requires navigating and maintaining inventory in multiple storage locations throughout the facility.
Success in this position requires the ability to support many parallel tasks in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment. Necessary skills include critical thinking; a disciplined approach to tracking, verification, and documentation; adaptability; and the frequent use of basic math.
- Prepare material kits for issue to manufacturing teams.
- Maintain physical and digital inventory records.
- Maintain physical stock boxes and labels.
- Identify inventory discrepancies and initiate corrective actions in accordance with established procedures.
- Help put newly received items into stock.
- Assist employees with material requests.
- Update digital shortage tracker daily, monitoring part status and supplier due dates.
- Ensure the continuity of in-process inventory at manufacturing work cells.
- Issue short materials to the manufacturing work cells based on schedule needs.
- Coordinate with Purchasing on shelf life material needs and other shortages as needed.
- Assist in maintaining an overall accurate and organized inventory system.
- Wear personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines.
- All other tasks as assigned.
- US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status required.
- 1+ years of related inventory experience is preferred.
- Must be proficient with general computer use. Familiarity with ERP/inventory control software is a plus.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to handle small and/or sensitive parts.
- Ability to correctly comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions and procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a service oriented team environment.
- Excellent time management with the ability to multitask and prioritize work.
- Proficient with basic numerical skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for long periods of time.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to convey information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
