The AM Line Cook at Palm House is responsible for preparing and cooking breakfast and morning menu items to the highest culinary standards. This role ensures timely and consistent execution of dishes while maintaining kitchen organization, cleanliness, and compliance with health and safety regulations. The AM Line Cook contributes to an exceptional guest experience by delivering high-quality food with attention to detail and presentation during morning service.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare and cook breakfast and morning menu items according to standardized recipes and Palm House culinary standards.
- Ensure all dishes are consistent in quality, portion size, presentation, and flavor.
- Assist with mise en place, including chopping, portioning, and preparing ingredients prior to service.
- Monitor food quality and freshness throughout the shift, ensuring proper storage and rotation of ingredients.
- Other duties as assigned.
Kitchen Operations & Organization
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation at all times.
- Assist in setup and breakdown of kitchen stations for morning service.
- Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of dishes.
Team Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with fellow cooks, chefs, and kitchen staff to coordinate service and resolve any operational issues.
- Assist in training and supporting junior kitchen staff as needed.
- Foster a positive, professional, and cooperative kitchen environment.
Guest Experience & Service Excellence
- Support the preparation and presentation of menu items that reflect Palm House’s standards of quality and attention to detail.
- Respond promptly to special dietary requests or modifications with accuracy and professionalism.
- Contribute to a seamless breakfast service that enhances overall guest satisfaction.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience as a line cook or similar role in a hotel, resort, or high-volume restaurant preferred.
- Basic culinary training or certification preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation practices, and proper kitchen procedures.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional appearance, demeanor, and attitude.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for extended periods during long shifts.
- Capable of lifting, carrying, and handling up to 50 pounds of ingredients, supplies, or equipment.
- Ability to bend, reach, and move quickly in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Comfortable working in heat, steam, and other conditions typical of a commercial kitchen.
- Ability to work early morning hours, weekends, and holidays as required.
