Job Description

Resident Service Coordinator at JASA

As a Resident Service Coordinator, you will be the primary support system for senior tenants, providing individual case management and group programming. You will play a vital role in helping formerly unhoused tenants transition back into the community, ensuring they have the tools, benefits, and support networks needed to maintain permanent housing.

🌟 Why You’ll Love Working at JASA

JASA is one of NYC’s largest and most trusted nonprofits serving older adults. Our dedicated professionals help improve the lives of thousands of seniors through impactful, mission-driven work.

  • Meaningful Impact: Directly support formerly unhoused seniors as they regain stability and independence.

  • Collaborative Environment: Work closely with the Supervisor of Residential Services and interdisciplinary teams.

  • Holistic Approach: Balance clinical case management with community-building and recreational programming.

📝 What You’ll Be Doing

Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Residential Services, you will manage a caseload of senior tenants, focusing on housing stability, emotional well-being, and social integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Assessment: Provide monthly in-home assessments to evaluate the social and emotional needs of tenants; monitor risks and update case plans accordingly.

  • Housing Stability: Assist formerly unhoused tenants with community transitions; ensure all tenants maintain the subsidies and benefits required for permanent housing.

  • Case Management & Advocacy: Develop written case plans, screen for benefit eligibility, and provide advocacy to secure entitlements.

  • Counseling & Guidance: Offer individual and family guidance to resolve personal or tenancy-related issues.

  • Community Building: Facilitate tenant engagement through group meetings, recreational activities, and the development of informal support networks.

  • Resource Coordination: Refer tenants to legal aid, primary care, mental health services, and volunteer opportunities.

  • Crisis Prevention: Consult with supervisors regarding high-risk tenants to prevent evictions and address problematic behavioral patterns.

  • Education: Train tenants on their rights and obligations of tenancy, as well as available health and welfare resources.

🎓 What You’ll Need
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (BSW preferred) in Sociology, Gerontology, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of one year of relevant experience.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and electronic case record systems.

  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate concisely; Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

  • Core Values: Ability to understand and appreciate the role of race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and individual values in serving a diverse population.

  • Health & Wellness: Medical (choice of 3 medical plans), dental, and vision coverage at low cost, plus Employee Wellness Programs and an EAP.

  • Retirement Savings: 403(b) plan with Roth option and an employer-funded pension.

  • Generous Time Off: Four weeks of vacation, plus holidays, floating holidays, and sick days.

  • Professional Growth: Opportunities for learning and career advancement in a mission-focused environment.
